Evolution Aqua Premium Heavy Duty Sinking Airline is a high quality weighted air hose designed to remain beneath the water instead of floating across the pond surface. It is suitable for connecting pond air pumps to air stones, air diffusers, aerated bottom drains, moving bed filters and other pond oxygenation equipment.

The heavy duty sinking design allows the airline to settle naturally at the base of the pond without requiring separate weights or additional anchoring. This helps create a neater and more discreet aeration installation, keeping the airline out of sight and away from fish, aquatic plants and pond decorations.

The black finish blends well against pond liners, pond bases and darker aquatic backgrounds. This makes it especially useful for koi ponds, ornamental ponds and professional installations where visible pipework would spoil the appearance of the pond.

Evolution Aqua Premium Heavy Duty Sinking Airline is made from a durable PVC based compound and is designed for long term outdoor use. It has high resistance to UV light and is built to resist kinking and cracking, helping maintain steady air delivery from the air pump to the diffuser or air stone.

The airline is available with 4mm, 8mm and 10mm internal diameters. The 4mm version has a 10mm outside diameter and is supplied in 100m rolls. The 8mm version has a 15mm outside diameter and is supplied in 50m rolls. The 10mm version has a 17mm outside diameter and is supplied in 30m rolls.

The 4mm option is suitable for smaller air pumps, compact air stones, aquariums, quarantine systems and lighter aeration setups. The 8mm option is suitable for pond air pumps, diffuser discs, air stones and many koi pond aeration systems. The 10mm option is suitable for larger air pumps, longer airline runs, larger diffusers and higher airflow pond systems.

Air pump and manifold compatibility

The 8mm and 10mm sizes can be connected to Evolution Aqua air pumps using the rubber elbow supplied with the pump. They are also suitable for use with many other popular pond air pumps, including Charles Austen air pumps, when the correct size rubber boot, connector or adaptor is used.

This airline is also perfectly suitable for use with our 2 way and 4 way air manifolds. Simply choose the manifold outlet tail size that matches the airline being used. A manifold is useful when splitting air from 1 air pump to multiple air stones, diffusers, aerated bottom drains or filtration chambers.

Good pond aeration helps support fish, beneficial filtration bacteria and overall water quality. Oxygen becomes especially important during warmer weather because warmer water naturally holds less dissolved oxygen. Placing air stones or diffusers at the base of the pond also encourages deeper water to circulate towards the surface, helping reduce stagnant areas.

Standard or premium heavy duty sinking airline?

Evolution Aqua Premium Heavy Duty Sinking Airline is the better choice for larger koi ponds, longer airline runs, more demanding installations or systems where a thicker airline construction is required.

It is also the option to choose if your setup requires 10mm internal diameter airline, as the standard sinking airline is only available in 4mm and 8mm options.

For general pond, aquarium and filtration aeration systems, the 4mm/8mm Standard Sinking Airline provides a more economical everyday option.

Connecting to air pumps and manifolds

Evolution Aqua advises that the 8mm and 10mm sinking airline can be connected to Evolution Aqua air pumps using the rubber elbow supplied with the air pump.

Important ordering information

All airline is supplied in the selected length.

Where multiple cut lengths are ordered, they will be supplied as separate lengths rather than as 1 continuous piece.

For example, ordering 2 × 10m lengths will provide 2 separate 10m lengths rather than 1 continuous 20m length.

Customers requiring a complete continuous roll should select the relevant 100m, 50m or 30m roll option where available.
