This compact package brings together the Evolution Aqua EazyPod Complete and the controllable Varipump 10000. The filter includes its own 18 watt UVC and cleaning air pump, so the kit covers circulation, mechanical filtration, biological treatment, green-water control and the equipment needed for the EazyPod cleaning cycle.

Choose the grey or granite green EazyPod at the same price. Hose and fittings are left out because a short garden-pond installation needs a very different route from a pump-fed koi system. The result is a well-matched equipment package without artificially inflating the price with generic plumbing.

What each component does

EazyPod Complete: mechanical and biological filtration

Pond water passes through a static bed of K1 Micro media. The media traps suspended dirt while also providing protected surface for beneficial bacteria. During cleaning, the water circuit is isolated and the included air pump agitates the media so the captured debris can be discharged to waste.

The EazyPod is popular because the filtration principle is simple and the cleaning process is easy to see. It does not hide waste inside disposable cartridges, and replacement media is not required as part of normal routine servicing.

Built-in 18 watt UVC

The Complete version contains an 18 watt ultraviolet clarifier. It treats the single-celled algae responsible for green water before the water returns to the pond. The UVC does not remove blanket weed attached to the liner or rocks, and the quartz and lamp still need normal service attention.

Varipump 10000: adjustable circulation

The Varipump gives the installer control over the real flow through the filter. Evolution Aqua recommends around 5,000 litres per hour through an EazyPod and quotes a maximum filter flow of 10,000 litres per hour. The pump provides capacity for lift and pipe resistance, then the controller allows the finished system to be set to the pond rather than being forced to run at maximum.

What size pond is it for?

The EazyPod Complete is rated for ponds up to 10,000 litres. Treat that as a maximum, particularly where koi are heavily fed or expected to grow. Fish load, food, direct sun and the amount of debris entering the pond are more useful sizing checks than water volume alone.

This is a strong package for garden ponds, wildlife ponds that need powered filtration and lightly stocked smaller koi ponds. If the pond will carry a substantial koi load or the owner wants more biological capacity, compare the Nexus 220 Titanium kit rather than asking the EazyPod to work at its limit.

Installation guidance

This kit is intended for a pump-fed layout. The pump sends water to the EazyPod and the filtered water returns to the pond by gravity. That return must be unrestricted and continuously falling. Evolution Aqua guidance calls for a larger return when running higher flows, so the pipe arrangement should be planned before the filter position is fixed.

• Select heavy duty pond hose in the largest practical diameter for the pumped side
• Use correctly sized stainless steel hose clips
• Keep the gravity return short, large and continuously falling
• Give the waste outlet a permanent route that cannot drain back to the pond
• Install the cleaning air pump in a dry, ventilated position above water level or use the protection specified by Evolution Aqua
• Keep the Varipump accessible so its cage and rotor can be serviced

Hose and pipework are not included. They should be chosen once the pump position, filter position, lift and return are known.

Cleaning and commissioning

Clean the filter before trapped solids begin to restrict flow. During the cycle, isolate the water circuit, use the air pump to agitate the media and discharge dirty water until it runs acceptably clear. The exact interval changes with feeding, algae and leaf fall.

A new biological filter takes time to mature. Test ammonia and nitrite, keep feeding conservative at first and preserve established media during major maintenance. Check the UVC lamp and quartz and keep the pump intake free from blanket weed and leaves.

Common questions

Does the kit include a UVC and air pump?

Yes. The EazyPod Complete contains an 18 watt UVC and is supplied with the air pump used during cleaning.

Should the Varipump run at full power?

Not automatically. Set it from the measured delivered flow and filter performance. Around 5,000 litres per hour is the usual recommended EazyPod flow.

Is this suitable for koi?

It can suit a small or lightly stocked koi pond, but use a conservative volume and move to a Nexus if feeding or future fish growth will be substantial.
