The Blagdon Raised Fish Pond M Half Moon is a freestanding 235 litre pond designed to bring fish and aquatic plants closer to eye level. Its half moon shape has a straight rear edge that can suit a position alongside a wall or fence, with three underwater viewing windows around the front. Anthracite wicker effect panels give the pond a finished appearance without building a masonry surround or digging a pond into the garden.

This set includes the Clean Inpond Filter 2000, combining a pump, filtration and LED lighting with a water display. It is the mains powered Fish pond version. It is different from the solar Nature pond, which focuses on a wildlife beach, access ladder and floating solar fountain. The set supplies the pond panels, reinforced liner, underlay, assembly components, planting pocket and Clean Inpond equipment. Fish, plants, gravel and decorative items shown in photographs are for illustration and need to be chosen separately. The water display and lighting are part of the equipment package; this is not an empty pond surround that requires a separate filter to be selected before it can be set up.

Make the most of the half moon shape

A straight back can make the pond easier to position at the edge of a patio, keeping the curved front open for viewing. Allow working space around the installation rather than pushing it into a gap that makes the pump or liner inaccessible. You should be able to reach the equipment for cleaning and see the water surface without leaning awkwardly across furniture or planting.

Plan the view from the places where you spend time in the garden. The windows offer a different perspective from looking down through the surface, so consider the height of nearby seating and the direction of natural light. Leave some clear space behind the windows when planting, otherwise an attractive feature can become hidden by baskets and mature foliage.

Prepare the base and power supply

The manufacturer’s assembly guide requires a firm and level base. The stated filled weight is 250kg, so the surface must support the whole pond properly. Check the intended location before assembly and fill the pond in its final position. Do not assume that a lightweight looking panel construction makes the filled installation easy to move.

The included equipment uses mains electricity and has a 10 metre cable. Plan a suitable outdoor power connection and cable route in accordance with the equipment instructions. Keep the route clear of areas where a cable could be trapped or damaged during normal garden use. If the proposed location needs new electrical provision, arrange suitable installation before filling the pond rather than relying on a temporary arrangement afterwards.

What the pump and filter figures mean

The quoted 650 litres per hour is the pump’s maximum flow figure. Maximum flow and the 1.25 metre maximum pumping height are different operating limits; they are not a promise that the pump will deliver its maximum flow at its maximum height. The actual water display depends on the selected outlet arrangement and the condition of the pump and filter.

Keep the intake accessible and follow the Clean Inpond instructions when choosing and adjusting the water display. Check that spray or falling water stays inside the pond, including in breezy conditions. A display that continually loses water over the edge can reduce the water level even when the pond itself is watertight.

Introducing plants and fish

Keep access to the pump clear and avoid covering every part of the surface, particularly where you want to watch the water display.

A new filter needs time to establish biological filtration. Treat the pond as a small managed aquatic system, rather than assuming that included equipment makes any stocking level suitable. Choose fish with their adult size and long term needs in mind, introduce them gradually and check water quality. The 235 litre capacity is not a recommendation for keeping large koi. Assembly, cleaning and support

Check the clips, liner supports and fixings during assembly, and keep your purchase information with the manuals. Use a suitable gentle cleaning method on the viewing windows to avoid scratching them.
