Aqua Source Aqua Balance Filter Gel

Aqua Source Aqua Balance Filter Gel

Biological pond treatment for filter support, sludge reduction and water balance

Apply Aqua Balance Filter Gel directly to clean filter media so it can coat the surfaces where bacteria need to establish. Switch off the pond pump and filter air pump during application, then restart after the recommended contact time. For best results, use it when the filter media is clean enough for bacteria to colonise, but not sterilised or exposed to untreated tap water.

1 litre treats up to 20,000 litres / 4,399 UK gallons 2.5 litres treats up to 50,000 litres / 10,998 UK gallons Apply evenly across filter media Leave for one hour before restarting pumps Switch off UV clarifier for 8 hours after application Add extra aeration where possible to support bacterial activity

Biological treatments such as Aqua Source Aqua Balance Filter Gel work best when the pond gives the bacteria the right conditions to establish. Use in chlorine-free water, maintain good oxygen levels and avoid dosing at the same time as strong chemical treatments unless the manufacturer says it is safe. They are especially useful after filter cleaning, new pond start-ups, medication courses, heavy feeding or seasonal waste build-up, where the biological system needs extra support.

Aqua Source Aqua Balance products cover live bacteria, filter gel, buffer minerals, clay, enzyme support and blanketweed treatments. Their range is aimed at biological balance, water stability and koi pond maintenance rather than one single cure-all treatment.

Biological support guidance

Use Aqua Source Aqua Balance Filter Gel when the pond or filter needs biological support, such as after cleaning, new filter installation, medication, heavy feeding or seasonal waste build-up. Do not expect bacterial treatments to instantly remove years of sludge; they work by supporting natural breakdown over time, especially when oxygen levels and water temperature are suitable.

Key benefits

• Adds biological support for the pond or filter system
• Useful after new filter set-ups, deep cleans or medication courses
• Helps support ammonia and nitrite control as the filter matures

The product label should always take priority over general guidance. The points below are included to help customers use Aqua Source Aqua Balance Filter Gel in a more careful and informed way.

• Use only in dechlorinated water; chlorine can reduce bacterial activity.
• Avoid dosing live bacteria at the same time as strong chemical medicines unless the label allows it.
• Maintain strong aeration so bacteria and filter media have enough oxygen.
• Allow time for biological products to work; sludge and waste will not disappear instantly.
• Reapply after medication, deep cleaning or large water changes where the label recommends it.
• Store the product as instructed and do not use if it has been damaged or contaminated.
