Oase Waterfall 90 Illumination: a 900mm light for a wide water curtain

The Oase Waterfall 90 Illumination (manufacturer code 51980) is a slim, stainless steel LED fitting for a 90cm waterfall blade, terrace edge or pond-side feature. It provides a line of neutral-white light beneath the falling water, allowing the movement and texture of the cascade to remain visible after dark. This listing is for the light and its supplied low-voltage power arrangement; it is not a waterfall blade, circulation pump or complete waterfall kit. What makes the 90cm model different?

Oase offers three widths of Waterfall Illumination. Choose the light to match the width of the waterfall and the mounting location, not simply by comparing the pictures. The 90cm model has a 900 × 15 × 15mm fitting, a stated 13W power consumption and 250 lumens luminous flux. These are the specifications of code 51980. The 30cm version is a different 5W/90lm product; the 60cm version is 10W/180lm. If you are replacing an existing light, check the part number and overall width before ordering rather than assuming every Waterfall Illumination bar has the same electrical rating.

The approximately 3500K neutral-white output gives a clear view of the sheet of water without turning it blue or changing colour. The LED points are discreet within the metal surround, so the light reads as a continuous accent beneath the waterfall. It is decorative lighting; it does not heat the pond, drive the cascade or replace lighting intended for safe movement around paths and steps.

Oase also lists energy-efficiency class G and a weighted energy consumption of 10kWh per 1,000 hours for the light fixture. That weighted label figure is a separate measure; it should not be confused with the manufacturer’s 13W rated power consumption.

Planning the installation

First decide where the water blade will sit and how the light will be retained beneath it. Oase provides a discreet plastic mounting carriage so Waterfall Illumination can be retrofitted to a compatible Oase Waterfall 90, and the fitting can also be used for suitable terrace or pond-edge decoration. Confirm the real dimensions and clearance of your wall or coping before fixing either component. A wide light will show best when the 90cm water sheet remains even across its width, so the pump, pipework and blade need to be planned as one feature.

The IP68 rating applies to the light fitting, which Oase states is suitable for permanent submersion. The power supply has the different IP44 rating. Keep that electrical component and its mains connection in the position required by the supplied instructions; do not treat the entire system as submersible. Route the 10m cable so it is protected from pinching, abrasion and service work. Allow access to the power unit for inspection rather than sealing it behind a finished wall. Isolate the power before fitting, cleaning or adjusting the installation, and have any mains-side work completed by a suitably competent person.

Care and troubleshooting

Once installed, view the cascade at night from the position where it will normally be seen. A patchy appearance can come from an uneven water sheet, algae or deposits on the light’s viewing surface, or the position of the bar—not necessarily a failed LED. Switch the system off before cleaning and follow Oase’s instructions for the fitting and connector. Wipe away deposits using a suitable soft cloth; avoid scratching the stainless surround or pulling the cable to remove the light. If the fitting does not illuminate, check the accessible supply and connection without opening sealed electrical parts. The power arrangement and replacement components must match code 51980; a transformer for another light width should not be assumed interchangeable.
