Pipework and fittings are selected separately.
£2,179.95 (inc VAT)
The Evolution Aqua Nexus 220 Titanium complete kit is built around one of the best-known combined mechanical and biological koi filters. It includes the Nexus 220 Titanium, a free genuine lid, Varipump 10000 and Airtech 75, with sensible upgrade choices for the air pump and K+ media.
It is suitable for owners who want the main filtration equipment specified together but still need the freedom to design bottom drains, pumped feeds, returns and valves around the pond. The lid is genuinely included in the package price rather than shown in the photograph and added later.
Bundle value: The base package is £2,179.95. Compared with buying the filter, lid, Varipump 10000 and Airtech 75 separately, the total saving is £242.90 and the genuine lid is included free.
What is included
- 1 × Evolution Aqua Nexus 220 Titanium filter 1 × genuine Nexus 220 filter lid included free 1 × Evolution Aqua Varipump 10000 1 × Evolution Aqua Airtech 75 air pump, with optional upgrade to the Airtech 95 Optional extra 50 litres of Evolution Aqua K+ filter media
Why these parts work together
The Nexus 220 Titanium has a stated maximum flow of 10,000 litres per hour and the Varipump 10000 can be adjusted to that limit after the real pipe resistance is known. The filter combines an Eazy mechanical stage with a moving K+ biological stage, while twin 36 watt UVC lamps are built into the Titanium model.
The Airtech 75 is the standard matched air pump for the moving bed. Choose the Airtech 95 where the installation has a longer airline, additional resistance or where stronger media movement is needed within the manufacturer’s limits. Extra K+ media increases potential biological surface only if there is enough air and free chamber volume to keep all of it moving.
Choosing the right size for your pond
Evolution Aqua rates the Nexus 220 Titanium for ponds up to 18,000 litres. That figure must be reduced for heavy koi loads and high feeding. Use the likely maximum summer feeding rate, not just today’s fish count, and leave room for growth.
The filter is a strong fit for medium koi ponds where straightforward cleaning and established replacement parts matter. If the intended flow, stock or future feeding is near the upper end, compare the Nexus 320 Titanium package rather than planning to run the 220 at its limit from day one.
Plan the installation before ordering
- Choose gravity-fed or pump-fed plumbing deliberately. The filter supports both, but the position, inlet arrangement and safe operating levels are different.
- Use full-bore
- pressure pipe
- , suitable
- flexible rubber connectors
- and serviceable
- ball valves
- around the filter.
- Keep the Varipump accessible and set its final output from measured system flow rather than the controller percentage alone.
- Provide a large, unrestricted return and a dependable waste line. Avoid reducing the Nexus connections simply to reuse an undersized old pipe.
- Keep the Airtech pump dry and ventilated. Route airline without kinks and use suitable non-return protection where required.
- Allow enough access to lift the free lid, remove the Eazy section and reach every valve during cleaning.
Hose and pipework are not included. This keeps the kit price focused on the equipment and lets you choose the correct lengths, diameters, valves and fittings for the actual installation.

Commissioning and routine care
Clean the Eazy stage often enough that captured solids do not remain in the water for long periods. During the rinse, make sure the air ring agitates the whole media bed and discharge waste until the water is acceptably clear.
The biological chamber should roll evenly. After adding optional media, recheck movement, dissolved oxygen and water quality. Replace UVC lamps at the recommended interval, clean quartz sleeves and preserve mature media during any major service.
Frequently asked questions
Is the lid really included free?
Yes. The genuine Nexus 220 lid is part of this package and there is no separate lid charge at checkout.
What is the standard air pump?
The base package includes an Airtech 75. You can replace it with an Airtech 95 for the stated upgrade price.
Should I add the extra 50 litres of K+ media?
Add it for greater planned biological load only when the chamber has enough air and space to keep all media moving. More static media is not an upgrade.
Is the Varipump 10000 matched to the filter?
Yes. Its maximum nominal output matches the Nexus maximum flow, and the controller allows adjustment for the actual installation.
Can the Nexus 220 be gravity fed?
Yes. It supports gravity-fed and pump-fed layouts, but the connections, water levels and return design must follow the chosen method.
Does the Titanium version include UVC?
Yes. The Nexus 220 Titanium has two 36 watt UVC lamps built into the filter.
Is it suitable for an 18,000 litre koi pond?
That is the manufacturer maximum. Stock, feeding and turnover may require a more conservative size or the Nexus 320.
Does the kit include bottom drain pipework?
No. Bottom drains, pressure pipe, valves, returns and fittings are selected for the individual pond.
How much K+ media can the 220 hold?
The stated maximum is 150 litres, but every added litre must still move correctly and receive enough oxygen.
Can you check whether I need the 220 or 320?
Yes. Send the pond volume, fish stock, intended feeding, bottom drain layout and proposed flow so the choice can be checked properly.
