AquaForte Biofleece 1000 II Combi with filter media

The AquaForte BioFleece 1000 II Combi combines automatic fine-solids removal with a downstream biological-media chamber. As the fleece loads with waste, the water level operates the 24V drive and advances clean material into the flow path, so trapped solids leave the water before they can break down.

Behind the fleece section, moving or highly aerated media provides protected surface area for the bacteria that process ammonia and nitrite. That makes the unit a genuine combination filter rather than a mechanical roll filter that still needs a separate biological stage.

What the BioFleece Combi does

  • Automatically advances filter fleece as it becomes dirty
  • Removes fine suspended solids from the water circuit
  • Includes a separate biological-media chamber
  • Low-voltage 24V drive system
  • LDPE filter body with IP54 electrical classification
  • Designed for approximately 30–40 m³/h pump-fed flow

Installation and running costs

Set the filter on a completely level, load-bearing base and establish the correct operating water height before finalising the inlet and outlet pipework. The outlet must pass the planned flow without backing water into the fleece chamber. Route the waste so a used section of fleece can drain without dripping back into the clean side.

Fleece use depends on stocking, feeding, algae and how much coarse waste reaches the unit. A bottom drain or skimmer carrying large leaves directly to the fleece will consume rolls faster than a system with sensible coarse separation. Keep replacement rolls accessible and provide enough room above and beside the cabinet for routine servicing.

Our practical view: The attraction is not simply ‘automatic cleaning’. The real gain is removing captured waste while it is still concentrated on the fleece instead of leaving it submerged in the pond circuit. Good pre-plumbing and easy roll access determine whether that advantage remains convenient in daily use.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a drum filter?

No. It uses a disposable advancing fleece roll for mechanical filtration, followed by a biological-media chamber.

Does it work by gravity?

The manufacturer data for these models describes pump-fed duty. Follow the current installation manual for the exact operating level.

How long does a fleece roll last?

There is no honest fixed answer. Duration depends on feeding, algae, incoming solids, flow and how effectively coarse debris is removed first.

Does the biological chamber need air?

Biological media performs best with the movement and oxygenation specified by the manufacturer; allow for a suitable air system where required.

What happens when the roll runs out?

Mechanical capture will deteriorate. Keep a replacement roll available and inspect the advance mechanism rather than relying only on an alarm.
