The Oase BioSmart 36000 is a high capacity flow through gravity return pond filter designed for large garden ponds, ornamental ponds and moderately stocked koi ponds. As a gravity discharge box filter, it allows high water volumes to pass through while maintaining strong biological filtration capacity.
This model offers significantly increased foam volume compared to smaller BioSmart units, making it suitable for higher waste loads and larger water volumes. As a result, it delivers consistent mechanical debris removal and stable biological filtration throughout the pond season.
The Oase BioSmart 36000 is suitable for:
- Up to 36000 litres without fish
- Up to 18000 litres with goldfish
- Up to 9000 litres with koi
Therefore, it is ideal for large decorative ponds and medium stocked koi systems that require reliable, accessible filtration.
Intelligent Monitoring and Easy Maintenance
Like the 18000 model, the Oase BioSmart 36000 includes an integrated pollution level indicator. This visual display clearly signals when maintenance is required, helping you maintain optimal filtration performance.
The in situ cleaning system allows all nine filter foams to be compressed simultaneously using the external handles. Consequently, accumulated waste is flushed directly to the sludge drain without removing the foams. This keeps maintenance quick and significantly less messy.
A bottom sludge drain with slide valve allows coarse debris to be discharged easily. In addition, the built in thermometer provides real time water temperature monitoring, supporting improved seasonal pond management.
For enhanced biological efficiency, the BioSmart 36000 can be paired with the Oase OxyTex pond aerator. When installed, OxyTex can increase biological filtration performance by up to 25 percent by improving oxygen supply within the filter chamber.
How the Oase BioSmart 36000 Works and Set Options
Water enters the Oase BioSmart 36000 through a pump fed inlet before flowing through multiple filtration stages:
- Four blue coarse foams capture larger debris and solids
- Four red fine foams provide mechanical polishing and biological surface area
- One green ultra fine foam delivers final stage filtration
As water passes through these layers, beneficial bacteria colonise the sponge surfaces and break down ammonia and nitrite. Consequently, harmful waste compounds are converted into less toxic substances, supporting a balanced pond ecosystem. Once filtered, water exits via gravity return through the DN 75 outlet back into the pond.
Because this is a gravity return filter, it must be positioned above pond water level to allow water to flow back naturally.
The Oase BioSmart 36000 is available as a standalone flow through filter if you already have a correctly sized pond pump and UV clarifier. However, it is also available as a complete Oase BioSmart 36000 Filtration Set, which includes a fully matched pump, UV clarifier and hose for a balanced and ready to install system.
