BioKick Premium is the most concentrated starter culture in the AquaActiv range. Four medical-glass ampoules protect highly concentrated autotrophic bacterial strains and enzymes until they are needed, with an opener included for controlled use.

One 20ml ampoule is stated for up to 10,000 litres, so the complete pack covers up to 40,000 litres. It is the sensible choice for a heavily stocked koi pond, a large filter start, or a system where the biological stage must recover quickly after maintenance or treatment.

What this treatment is designed to do

• Starts or replenishes the bacterial population on biological filter media.
• Supports the breakdown of ammonium/ammonia and nitrite while the filter matures.
• Useful after a new filter installation, seasonal restart or substantial filter cleaning.
• Works with the filter rather than masking poor water quality with a colourant or flocculant.
• Individual ampoules allow the pack to be divided between separate filter starts without opening the remaining doses.

How to use it responsibly

Open only the number of ampoules required for the calculated pond volume and apply them to the biological filter. Maintain strong aeration and circulation. Follow the current label for UVC operation and do not expose the culture to disinfectants or untreated chlorinated water.

• Current Oase specification is 4 × 20ml, not the older 4 × 50ml wording still found in some trade lists.
• Glass ampoules must be opened with the supplied opener and handled carefully.
• Do not exceed the filter’s actual hydraulic or biological capacity simply because a concentrated starter is being used.

Calculate the real water volume after allowing for shelves, stone, pipework and filter chambers. If fish are distressed, oxygen is low or the water values are unsafe, stabilise the system before carrying out non-essential cosmetic treatment. Always retain the batch label and follow the current pack instructions, because formulation and regulatory directions can change.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the pack say 4 × 20ml?

That is the current Oase specification for article 51280. Some older supplier descriptions still state 4 × 50ml, but the current product contains four 20ml ampoules.

Can I use just one ampoule?

Yes. One ampoule is intended for up to 10,000 litres; retain the unopened ampoules in accordance with the storage instructions.

Is it only for new ponds?

No. It is also useful when a heavily loaded filter needs biological recovery after maintenance, medication or seasonal restart.
