Lemon Mist Waterlily (Nymphaea ‘Lemon Mist’)
Soft lemon yellow blooms rising above the water, perfect for adding gentle colour and balance to garden ponds.
The Lemon Mist Waterlily (Nymphaea ‘Lemon Mist’) is a beautifully subtle and reliable variety, perfect for bringing a soft wash of colour to your pond. Known for its pale lemon yellow blooms and lush green foliage, this waterlily creates a calming and natural look that blends effortlessly into any garden setting.
Flowering from June through to September, Lemon Mist produces delicate cup shaped flowers in a gentle yellow tone that appears almost pastel in certain light. These blooms rise slightly above the water surface, adding depth and dimension while catching the sunlight throughout the day. The understated colour makes it an excellent choice for those wanting a more natural or wildlife focused pond design.
The foliage is equally impressive, with rich green lily pads spreading across the water to provide excellent coverage. These floating leaves play a key role in maintaining a healthy pond environment. By shading the water, they help reduce algae growth, limit excessive sunlight penetration and stabilise water temperature during warmer months.
With a spread of around 70 cm to 90 cm, Lemon Mist is ideally suited to medium sized ponds. It offers enough coverage to be effective without becoming overwhelming, making it a versatile option for a wide range of pond styles. It also performs well in slightly deeper planting zones, giving you flexibility in placement.
As well as enhancing the appearance of your pond, Lemon Mist actively supports wildlife. The floating leaves provide shelter for fish and amphibians, while also acting as resting platforms for frogs, toads and newts. The flowers attract pollinators, helping to encourage a thriving and balanced ecosystem.
Hardy and easy to grow, this waterlily thrives in full sun and still water conditions. Once established, it requires very little maintenance and will return year after year with reliable flowering.
If you are looking for a soft, elegant yellow waterlily that offers both beauty and practical benefits, Lemon Mist is a fantastic addition to any pond.
