The Filtreau Excellent replacement control box is the electrical controller for the Excellent drum-filter system. Automatic cleaning and manual rinsing

Filtreau’s Excellent Line manual describes automatic cleaning triggered by the float switch, together with a manual rinse button. During a cleaning cycle, the drum motor and rinse pump work together to wash accumulated material from the screen and carry it towards the waste outlet. The manual lists a ten-second drum-rinsing time for the illustrated control system.

The manual rinse function is useful when checking the filter after maintenance or commissioning. It allows the cleaning sequence to be observed without waiting for the next automatic cycle. Follow the instructions supplied for your filter and keep its protective cover in place during operation. A new controller still depends on the connected float, pump, motor and pipework working correctly.

Filtreau specifies protection against prolonged flushing, with shutdown after five minutes and a manual reset. Investigate the cause before restarting the system.

Understanding the controller connections

The manufacturer’s control-box diagram separates the connections by their purpose. Use the labels on your own unit when identifying cables; a similar-looking socket is not a reason to interchange connected equipment.

The Excellent manual also identifies two safety fuses. Have a competent technician investigate a failed fuse or electrical fault and select the correct replacement specification. Repeatedly replacing a fuse without finding the cause can leave the original fault unresolved.

Check the whole cleaning circuit before replacing the box

A drum that does not rinse correctly can have a fault elsewhere in its cleaning circuit. Useful observations include whether the pond pump runs, whether a manual rinse starts, whether the drum rotates and whether water reaches the spray bar. Record what happens before switching equipment off for inspection. These details help distinguish an electrical-control problem from a blocked water supply, obstructed screen or mechanical problem.

Check routine maintenance items in accordance with the filter manual, including the screen and waste channel. A controller replacement will not remove accumulated debris or repair a worn drum component. Lid protection and installation

Filtreau describes a magnetic protection system that switches the control box off when the filter cover is removed. Retain that protection when replacing the controller. It helps prevent operation while the drum and UV-C equipment are exposed; do not bypass it to keep a filter running with the lid open.

Disconnect the electrical supply before changing connections or carrying out maintenance. The Excellent manual requires an earthed supply with residual-current protection rated at no more than 30mA. Protect the plug and socket from moisture and arrange a drip loop so water cannot run along a cable into the electrical connection. Have installation and electrical fault-finding carried out by a suitably qualified person.

Commissioning the replacement

After installation, follow the filter’s commissioning procedure. Confirm that equipment is connected to its designated sockets, the cover protection is working and the filter has the correct operating water level. Observe a complete cleaning cycle and check the water connections for leaks before returning the system to normal use.
