Evolution Aqua Surge Filter
Compact All In One Pond Filter with Built In UV
The Evolution Aqua Surge Filter is a compact and highly effective all in one pond filtration system designed to deliver clear and healthy water. It combines mechanical filtration, biological filtration and UV clarification in a single unit, making it an ideal solution for smaller ponds and quarantine systems.
With its integrated 18 watt UV clarifier, the Surge Filter effectively controls green water caused by algae. At the same time, it traps debris and supports beneficial bacteria growth, helping maintain balanced and stable water conditions. As a result, it provides a complete filtration solution in a compact footprint.
Designed for ponds up to 5,000 litres, the Surge Filter can be used as a standalone system or alongside existing filtration. It is particularly well suited to smaller koi ponds or as a polishing stage where additional clarity is required.
Advanced Filtration with K Plus Media and Easy Cleaning
At the core of the Surge Filter is Evolution Aqua’s K Plus Media, which delivers both biological and mechanical filtration. This advanced media captures fine particles while also providing a large surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonise.
Because the media is mineral infused, it matures more quickly than traditional filter media. This means the filter becomes effective faster and maintains strong performance over time. In addition, it can trap extremely fine particles, helping to improve water clarity significantly.
The Surge Filter also features a patent pending air syphon cleaning system. When the pump is switched off and the waste valve is opened, air is drawn into the unit, causing the media to agitate and release trapped debris. This waste is then flushed out through the outlet. As a result, cleaning is quick, simple and requires no direct contact with dirty media.

Before you order
Check the product size, connection details, access requirements and the equipment it will be used with. On ponds, the surrounding system often decides how well the product performs. Suitable pump flow, clean filters, correctly sized hose or pipework, good access for servicing and realistic maintenance all help the product work as intended.
UV sizing and lamp maintenance
Evolution Aqua Surge Filter should be matched to pond volume, pump flow and the level of green water control required. UV performance depends on suitable contact time, a clean quartz sleeve and a lamp that is still producing useful ultraviolet output.
- Replace UV lamps as part of routine seasonal maintenance.
- Clean or inspect the quartz sleeve if water clarity deteriorates.
- Match the UV to the pump and filter rather than installing it in isolation.
- Allow safe access for lamp changes and winter servicing.
Maintenance and compatibility checks
It is worth checking the supporting parts at the same time as the main product. Hose size, pressure pipe, valves, unions, UV units, filter inlets, air manifolds, spares and cleaning access can all affect how well the final system works. A correctly matched installation usually performs better and is easier to maintain than one built from parts chosen separately.
Final setup check
Before ordering Evolution Aqua Surge Filter, check the lamp wattage, quartz sleeve access, connection size and flow rate through the unit. A UV works best when the lamp is fresh, the sleeve is clean and the water has enough contact time inside the chamber.
