Blagdon Pond Monsta Remote-Control Handle Battery
This replacement battery is for the remote-control handle used with the Blagdon Pond Monsta cleaning system. It powers the handle’s control function; the vacuum motor itself uses its separate mains supply. Oasis lists this spare under reference BL793. Check your original handle and its instructions before ordering, especially if you bought the cleaner second-hand or have replaced its control parts.
The original UK Pond Monsta instruction booklet identifies the handle battery as a GA 23A alkaline battery and lists the battery spare as 1050470. Compare that information with the battery removed from your own handle. This listing is for the battery only. It does not include an encoded handle, receiver, charger, vacuum head or complete pond-cleaning system.
Which cleaner is this spare for?
The intended application is the original Blagdon Pond Monsta handle arrangement described in that manual. It is not a general-purpose replacement for every pond vacuum remote. Other manufacturers use different controls, and even a similarly sized battery needs the correct specification. Match the cleaner’s identity, the handle and the battery marking rather than judging compatibility from a photograph alone.
If your cleaner is an Oase PondoVac or a Pontec PondoMatic, use the spare-parts information for that cleaner. Their accessories are separate from this Blagdon spare. For comparison, we list the Oase PondoVac Classic and Pontec PondoMatic as complete pond-cleaning options. Those links are alternatives when reviewing your equipment, rather than a claim that this battery fits them.
Check the battery before replacing other parts
A remote that no longer activates the cleaner does not automatically mean that the vacuum motor has failed. Start with the troubleshooting sequence in your Pond Monsta manual. Check the control battery, its orientation and the condition of the handle before buying a new receiver or other major component. A fresh battery can address a depleted battery; it will not repair a broken trigger or a damaged electronic part.
Keep the distinction between the handle and the cleaner’s power supply clear. Replacing this battery does not replace the mains fuse, RCD or any electrical protection. If the system has a power-supply fault, stop using it and follow the manufacturer’s fault procedure. Do not open or modify mains components as part of a battery change.
Preparing to change the battery
Switch off and isolate the cleaner before handling its parts, following its instructions. Work in a dry, well-lit place where you can keep track of the compartment cover and any fasteners. Use the opening method shown for your handle instead of forcing the casing or trying to separate a sealed section that is not intended for access.
Before removing the old battery, note its marking and the direction of its terminals. Compare the replacement with those details and any polarity marks inside the compartment. Keep water, loose screws and other debris away from the open handle. If the compartment is wet or visibly damaged, resolve that problem before attempting to use the remote again.
Fitting and checking the control
Fit the replacement using the polarity and closing procedure specified for the handle. Check that the compartment cover is back in place and that the trigger moves as intended. Do not force a battery into a holder that does not accept it properly. An apparent mismatch is a reason to check the model and marking again.
Once the handle is reassembled, test the system through its normal operating procedure. Follow the cleaner’s requirements for water depth and preparing the vacuum head; do not run the motor dry simply to check the new battery. The original Pond Monsta instructions also state that the handle should not be submerged in the pond.
If a new battery does not resolve the fault
Check the manual’s receiver indicators and troubleshooting instructions. A fault can involve the handle, receiver, power supply or the cleaner itself, so avoid buying parts in sequence without identifying which part is responsible. Retain the old battery and note what the system does during the test; that gives you a useful starting point when discussing a repair.
When maintaining the pond, you can also compare the Oase PondoVac 3 and Charles Austen PC8000 pond vacuum. Choose a replacement cleaner according to its own capacity, cleaning method and supplied accessories. A battery spare is the appropriate purchase only when the existing compatible handle is otherwise serviceable.
Ordering details
Order this item when you need the Pond Monsta remote-handle battery, rather than a complete handle assembly. Check the quantity in your basket and retain your equipment instructions for the fitting procedure. The battery is a consumable spare; no battery-life promise or guarantee of curing an unrelated equipment fault is made.
