This category contains two distinct product families: the compact Elecro Nano Cygnet in 1kW, 2kW, 3kW and 4kW outputs, and the larger Cygnet EVO2 Aquatic Heater range from 1kW to 8kW.

The Cygnet EVO2 models are available with analogue or digital control. An analogue heater gives straightforward dial-based temperature control. The digital version is the better fit when you want a clearer set-point display and more precise day-to-day adjustment. The heating output is the same basic question in both cases: can the unit replace the heat the pond is losing?

Nano Cygnet or Cygnet EVO2?

The Nano Cygnet is aimed at compact installations and modest heat loads. It is a sensible route for a smaller pond, quarantine system or an installation where space is tight. The EVO2 range provides more output choices and runs up to 8kW, making it the family to compare for larger ponds or a more demanding temperature target.

We size from heat loss, not a simple litres-per-kilowatt rule

Pond volume is only the beginning. A wide shallow pond loses heat faster than a deep sheltered pond of the same volume. Wind, air temperature, insulation, target temperature and especially the use of a cover all change the result. We also check whether the electrical supply can support the heater before recommending a higher-output model.

Choosing an Elecro Pond Heater

Nano Cygnet 1kW to 4kW

The 1kW, 2kW, 3kW and 4kW Nano Cygnet models cover compact direct-electric heating duties. We would normally compare them for quarantine tanks, smaller koi ponds or systems where the aim is temperature stability rather than maintaining tropical water in midwinter.

Cygnet EVO2 1kW to 8kW

The EVO2 family adds 6kW and 8kW options as well as analogue and digital versions across the range. That makes it easier to match a larger heat load without fitting several small heaters. The 6kW and 8kW units require particularly careful checking of supply capacity and protection.

Analogue or digital control?

Choose analogue when you value simplicity and a direct set-point control. Choose digital when a visible temperature display and finer setting are worth the additional cost. Neither option compensates for an undersized heater or poor circulation through the chamber.

Installation and flow

Fit the heater into a continuously flooded return with the specified orientation, minimum flow, unions and isolation. We prefer the heater after effective filtration so debris is less likely to collect in the chamber. A suitably competent electrician must assess the supply and protective devices.

Our practical recommendation

If you tell us only the pond litres, we will ask more questions. Send the surface dimensions, depth, construction, cover, target temperature, present pump flow and available supply. That conversation can prevent buying an 8kW heater when insulation is the missing piece.

How do I work out the heater size?

Start with water volume, exposed surface area, target temperature, winter conditions and whether the pond is covered. The electrical supply must then be checked for the chosen output.

Will a small heater keep a large koi pond warm?

It may only slow the rate of cooling. Maintaining a set temperature in an exposed pond can require far more heat than simply preventing extreme cold.

Does a pond cover make a real difference?

Yes. Reducing wind and evaporation can cut heat loss dramatically, often making a bigger difference than moving up one heater size.

Where does an in-line heater go?

It is normally fitted into a continuously flooded return line in the orientation shown by the manufacturer, with safe isolation and the required flow through the chamber.

Can the heater operate without water flow?

No. An in-line heater needs reliable circulation whenever it is heating. Flow protection and installation instructions must not be bypassed.

Do I need an electrician?

Yes. Supply capacity, cable size, protection and isolation should be assessed and installed by a suitably competent electrician.

Can I use an in-line heater on a quarantine system?

Often yes, provided the heater output, materials, flow and control range suit the system. Small volumes can change temperature quickly, so accurate control matters.
