Takazumi Mix Koi Food
A floating blend of Gold Plus and High Growth for growth and colour
Takazumi Mix brings together Gold Plus and High Growth in one complete floating koi food. It combines the roles of those two formulas for keepers who want a convenient blend for growth and colour development. The declared analysis is 40% crude protein and 9.5% oils and fats, and Takazumi recommends feeding it from a water temperature of 10°C.
Choose a 1kg, 2.5kg, 4.5kg or 10kg pack to suit the amount your pond uses. All four sizes are the Mix formula. This is different from Takazumi EasyMix, which includes sinking food: the pellets in Takazumi Mix float, allowing you to watch the koi feed at the surface.
Understanding the blend
Gold Plus provides the colour focused component, while High Growth contributes its growth focused formulation. The finished Mix has its own nutritional declaration and feeding guidance. Use those directions for this product, rather than selecting a temperature limit or nutrient figure from just one ingredient food.
A prepared blend is useful when you prefer to handle one pack instead of measuring separate foods at each feed. Keep the ration appropriate to the fish and pond. The blend does not make extra food harmless, and growth or colour improvements cannot be judged independently of genetics, water quality and overall fish condition.
Declared composition and analysis
Takazumi lists fish meal, fish and vegetable oils, cereals and cereal products, wheat germ, amino acids, natural minerals, trace elements and a premix. Astaxanthin is included as a pigment supporting ingredient. Check the current pack label for the complete declaration and its handling instructions.

These proportions describe the food itself. They do not specify how many grams an individual koi should receive. Daily quantity depends on the collection, appetite, temperature and conditions, so follow the pack guidance and use observation to adjust the feeding routine.
Feeding from 10°C
Measure the pond water temperature before choosing Mix for the season. Takazumi’s stated starting temperature is 10°C. That does not mean that fish at the lower end of the range should receive the same amount as a strongly feeding collection in warmer water. Begin with modest portions and watch how the fish respond.
Recheck the routine when temperatures fall or appetite changes. If water is below the food’s stated feeding temperature, choose an appropriate alternative and follow that product’s directions. A sunny afternoon does not necessarily mean the water has warmed enough, particularly in a large or deep pond.
Making the most of a floating food
Feed where the pellets remain visible and accessible. Surface observation helps you identify a koi that is hanging back, a smaller fish being crowded out or food drifting into a skimmer before it can be eaten. Distribute small portions across the feeding area if that helps more of the collection gain access.
Allow a portion to be taken before adding more and remove accessible leftovers. A growing pile of pellets is a sign to reconsider the ration, not an invitation to wait for the fish to finish eventually. Keep track of how much food you use when changing the routine so the amount is deliberate rather than a series of extra handfuls.
Choosing between Mix and the individual formulas
Takazumi Gold Plus is an alternative if you want the balanced daily formula with its own colour supporting ingredient profile. Takazumi High Growth is the separate growth formula for water at 15°C and above. Mix sits between these choices as a ready combined ration, with different nutritional figures.
For fish that feed at different levels, look at Takazumi EasyMix. For condition support and a cooler season programme, compare Takazumi Vital. Choose by feeding behaviour and conditions as well as the product name.
Selecting a sensible pack quantity
The 1kg pack is useful for a smaller collection or an initial change to Mix. A 2.5kg pack provides more food without buying the largest quantity. The existing 4.5kg and 10kg choices suit ponds that already use the blend regularly and can use a larger supply while it remains fresh.
Use your measured consumption to plan the purchase. At 50g a day, a 1kg pack represents about 20 days and 2.5kg about 50 days. This is an example of calculating pack duration, not a feeding recommendation. Reduce the expected daily use when planning for a season in which the fish may slow down.
Introducing and storing Takazumi Mix
Introduce a change of food gradually and avoid changing the formula and sharply increasing the total amount at the same time. Maintain water testing and filter care as feeding increases. Check the response of the pond as well as the enthusiasm of the koi, particularly when moving into a stronger summer feeding routine.
Keep Mix in a cool, dry place with the pack closed between uses. Protect it from sunlight, rain and pond splashes, use a dry scoop and retain the original date information. Follow the storage instructions on the label. Our koi food range also includes other seasonal and feeding formats if the needs of your collection change.
