Takazumi EasyMix Koi Food

One ration with floating Gold Plus and sinking Easy pellets

Takazumi EasyMix combines 70% Gold Plus with 30% Easy to provide food at the surface and below it. Gold Plus is the floating component; Easy is the sinking component. This gives you a ready mixed option for a collection in which some koi feed enthusiastically at the top while quieter fish may be more comfortable taking food lower in the water.

Choose a 1kg, 2.5kg, 4.5kg or 10kg pack. Each size supplies the same EasyMix blend. The floating and sinking behaviour is part of the formula, so the sinking pellets are not a sign that the food has failed. Allow for both components when deciding how much to offer and when checking whether the ration has been eaten.

These are the proportions declared by Takazumi. EasyMix is not an equal split between floating and sinking food, and it is not the same product as Takazumi Mix. Gold Plus and Easy perform different roles within this blend, allowing a single feed to offer more than one feeding position.

This is particularly useful to remember when comparing foods: match the exact formula name and feeding format, rather than choosing figures from another bag in the same range.

Which ponds may benefit from mixed feeding?

EasyMix is worth considering when you can see a difference in feeding confidence between koi. Some fish move straight to the surface, while others hang back or take food lower down. Providing both formats can give the keeper another way to distribute the ration, particularly when the surface is dominated by a few assertive fish.

Observe how the blend works in your own pond. A sinking pellet can still be taken by an eager fish before a quieter one reaches it, so mixed feeding does not remove the need to watch individuals. Feeding position, the amount released at once and the way water moves through the area also affect access.

Count the whole ration, not just the floating pellets

With a mixed food, some pellets naturally leave the surface before they have necessarily been eaten. Do not immediately replace them with another handful. Watch the fish below the surface where visibility allows and offer small portions so the sinking component does not accumulate unnoticed.

This is especially relevant in a deep pond, cloudy water or a feeding area with strong circulation. Choose a position where you can assess the response as well as possible. Remove accessible leftovers and reduce the next portion if food is being missed. The aim is to make the measured ration accessible to the fish, rather than keeping the surface permanently covered.

Water temperature and seasonal use

Takazumi describes EasyMix as suitable across the seasons and recommends feeding it from a water temperature of 4°C. Below 4°C, stop feeding this food. Within its feeding range, follow the directions on the supplied pack and adjust portions to actual appetite, activity and pond conditions.

Measure the water temperature rather than relying on the air temperature. A season label does not mean that the same daily quantity is appropriate throughout the year. During colder or changeable conditions, watch appetite closely and review any automatic feeding settings before allowing them to continue unchanged.

Choosing between EasyMix and other Takazumi foods

If all the koi are confidently surface feeding and you want a floating daily ration, compare Takazumi Gold Plus. If sinking food is the specific requirement, see Takazumi Easy. EasyMix combines these two feeding approaches within one pack.

Takazumi Mix combines Gold Plus with High Growth and is a floating blend. Its similar name can make comparison confusing, but the components and purpose differ. For a warmer water growth programme, also consider Takazumi High Growth and follow that formula’s temperature requirements.

Buying the right quantity

The 1kg pack suits an initial trial of mixed feeding or a small collection. The 2.5kg pack gives more supply without committing to one of the larger options. Choose 4.5kg or 10kg when you already know the blend suits the fish and your pond uses enough food to make the larger pack practical.

Estimate pack duration using your measured total ration. At 50g a day, 1kg contains about 20 days of food. Both floating and sinking pellets count towards that total. This calculation is a buying example only, not a daily feeding recommendation; the correct quantity depends on the fish, temperature and pond conditions.

Introducing the food and keeping it fresh

Introduce a new food gradually and observe the response before increasing the overall ration. Maintain normal water testing and filter care, particularly if changing from a feeding routine where all leftovers were visible at the surface. Keep the pack closed, cool and dry, and protect it from direct sunlight, rain and splashes.
