Where hose is connected to a barbed fitting, push the hose fully home and secure it properly so the joint cannot work loose under flow or vibration.

Keep future maintenance in mind. A clean installation is not just about hiding pipework; it should also allow valves to be turned, unions to be undone, strainers to be cleaned and equipment to be removed without cutting the system apart. Where a part may need regular access, avoid burying it or boxing it in permanently.
