The drum screen removes fine suspended waste before it can break down in the biological chamber. Hel-X media then provides a moving biological stage, while the separate air pump keeps the media active. The Bitron C 55 is used as an inline UVC in the pumped feed rather than being presented as a direct-mounted drum accessory.

Why these parts work together

The AquaMax Eco Premium 13000 matches the Compact M maximum flow of 12,500 litres per hour once normal lift and pipe resistance are allowed for. The final flow must still be measured and adjusted during commissioning. Running a drum faster than its stated limit shortens contact time and can create unstable water levels.

The 80 micron screen provides fine mechanical separation. The supplied Hel-X 13 media is continuously aerated by the AquaOxy 2500, keeping oxygen and pond water moving through the protected bacterial surface. The UVC controls green water in the pumped line, giving the drum cleaner water to process without implying that UVC replaces biological maturity.

Choosing the right size for your pond

Oase rates the Compact M for ponds up to 80,000 litres, with substantially lower practical limits where fish or koi are present. For a stocked pond, the important figures are actual turnover, daily food, fish biomass and the oxygen available to the moving bed.

The 55 watt UVC is a sensible starting point for moderate water volumes and exposure. A very sunny pond, a high fish load or unusually demanding clarity target may need a stronger UVC arrangement. Send us the pond volume and stock details if you are near the upper end of the filter rating.

Plan the installation before ordering

• Install the Bitron C 55 as a correctly supported inline UVC in the pumped feed. Do not assume it clips directly onto the Compact M.
• Choose
• flexible pond hose
• or
• pressure pipe
• that maintains the required flow without unnecessary reducers.
• Use accessible unions and
• isolation valves
• around the pump and UVC so each part can be serviced safely.
• The drum outlet is gravity return. Keep the return pipe large, short and continuously falling to the pond.
• Site the drum on a rigid, level base and provide a reliable mains water connection and a proper waste route for automatic cleaning.
• Keep the AquaOxy above water level or protect it with suitable non-return arrangements, and route the airline where it cannot kink.

Hose and pipework are not included. This keeps the kit price focused on the equipment and lets you choose the correct lengths, diameters, valves and fittings for the actual installation.

Commissioning and routine care

During the first weeks, test ammonia and nitrite and feed conservatively while the moving bed develops. Watch the Hel-X movement across the whole chamber; violent boiling in one corner and static media elsewhere means the air distribution needs attention.

Inspect spray bars and nozzles, keep the waste channel clear and clean the Bitron quartz sleeve. A drum is automatic, not maintenance free. A weekly visual check is far cheaper than discovering a blocked waste line or failed cleaning pump after water quality has deteriorated.
