Kockney Koi saddle pipe clips for black solvent-weld pipework

These Kockney Koi saddle clips support rigid pipework against a suitable mounting surface. Choose the 3 inch / 82mm or 4 inch / 110mm model to match your pipe. Each option is an individual clip with fixing holes; screws and wall fixings are not included.

The saddle shape cradles the pipe and helps keep a run aligned. It is useful around pond filter bays, return routes and other accessible plumbing where unsupported pipe could put strain on connections. The clip supports the outside of the pipe: it does not join two pipes, seal a leak or control water flow.

These are the saddle-style models in Kockney Koi’s solvent-weld pipe range. The smaller 40mm and 50mm clips, pipe lengths and any surrounding fittings are separate products. Check the selected option and required number of supports before ordering.

Measure the pipe before choosing a clip

Use the pipe’s actual outside diameter to identify the required support. An inch description alone is not enough: black waste pipe, imperial pressure pipe and metric pressure pipe use different sizing conventions. A clip intended for one system should not be forced around another just because both are sold under a similar nominal size.

For a replacement, read the existing pipe markings and compare them with the old support. Measure an accessible straight section rather than the wider body of a socket or bend. Keep a record of the pipe system used so later maintenance parts can be selected accurately.

If your installation uses imperial pressure pipe, compare our pressure pipe clips instead. That range has a different selection of sizes and pack quantities. Changing the support does not alter the pressure rating or suitability of the pipe itself.

Planning a supported filter-bay layout

Map out the pipe route before fixing the clips. Allow space around valves, removable unions, filter lids and any equipment that must come out for servicing. A support placed too close to a union nut can make a straightforward maintenance job unnecessarily difficult.

Position supports to suit the pipe manufacturer’s recommendations and the actual installation. Pipe material, diameter, temperature, span and whether the run is horizontal or vertical all affect the layout. There is no single universal support interval that can safely be applied to every pond system.

Consider the weight of the pipe when filled with water, together with any attached fittings. Heavy valves, pumps and other equipment may need their own support. Do not expect one small clip to carry equipment weight or use the pipework to suspend a pump from a filter connection.

Fixing the clips in place

Choose screws, plugs or other fixings appropriate for the supporting surface and load. Timber, solid masonry and hollow construction need different fixing arrangements. Fixings are supplied separately so they can be chosen for the location rather than assuming one screw type is suitable everywhere.

Check for concealed services before drilling. Keep the pipe route aligned with its connections and avoid pulling a pipe sideways to reach a misplaced clip. If the fixing position is wrong, correct the layout rather than forcing the pipe into place and leaving a stressed joint.

The term solvent weld describes the pipework range, not an instruction to glue the clip onto the pipe. The clip is mechanically fixed to the mounting surface. Follow the pipe system’s guidance about restraint and movement, particularly on longer exposed runs.

Working around an existing pond system

Before removing an old support, make sure the affected pipe remains safely supported. Stop and isolate connected equipment where the work requires it. Drain the relevant section when necessary, taking care that valves and filter connections are not carrying the unsupported weight.

Look for sagging, damaged clips, loose fixings or joints that have been pulled out of line. Replacing a broken support without addressing the cause can leave the same problem in place. Check the surrounding mounting surface as well as the clip itself.

After installation, inspect the supported run when the system returns to service. Check for movement, rubbing, unusual vibration and leaks at nearby joints. Keep supports accessible enough to inspect during routine filter maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

Are screws included? No. Select suitable fixings separately for the mounting surface and installation.

Is this a hose clamp? No. A saddle pipe clip supports rigid pipework. Flexible hose attached to a barbed connector needs the correct hose-retaining clip for that joint.

Does the clip make a pipe pressure-rated? No. The pipe and fittings retain their own specifications. A support cannot compensate for an unsuitable pipe system or joint.

Can I use it on a bend? Select support positions on the appropriate pipe section and follow the pipe manufacturer’s layout guidance. Do not force the saddle around a wider fitting body.
