Cloverleaf Absolute Fluke+ 50g
Targeted treatment for skin and gill flukes in ornamental ponds
Cloverleaf Absolute Fluke+ is a pond fish treatment formulated for skin flukes, Gyrodactylus, and gill flukes, Dactylogyrus. This 50g pack provides one standard treatment for 22,700 litres, or 5,000 imperial gallons. The formula includes a pH buffer, and Cloverleaf states that it can be used with marginal plants, water lilies and biological filtration. It is not suitable for ponds containing shrimp, snails or other crustaceans and molluscs.
Choose this product after identifying the problem you need to treat. Fish rubbing against objects, changes in behaviour or breathing difficulties can have more than one cause; those observations alone do not identify a fluke infestation. Check water quality and seek help with diagnosis where necessary before selecting medication. A targeted treatment is most useful when it matches the confirmed problem.
What the 50g pack covers
The manufacturer’s standard dose is 10g per 4,540 litres, equivalent to 1,000 imperial gallons. A 1g measuring spoon is included. Calculate the quantity against the actual volume being treated, rather than using the whole pack automatically. A smaller pond needs a proportionately smaller dose; the pack’s maximum coverage does not change that calculation.
| Water volume | Standard quantity |
|---|---|
| 2,270 litres / 500 imperial gallons | 5g |
| 4,540 litres / 1,000 imperial gallons | 10g |
| 9,080 litres / 2,000 imperial gallons | 20g |
| 13,620 litres / 3,000 imperial gallons | 30g |
| 22,700 litres / 5,000 imperial gallons | 50g |
These examples follow the published dosing rate and describe a single application. Check your pond-volume calculation before weighing or measuring the powder. Imperial and US gallons are different units, so use the litre figure if there is any uncertainty about a quoted gallon capacity. Follow the current instructions supplied with the pack if the manufacturer updates its directions.
Preparing and applying the treatment
Cloverleaf directs users to dissolve the measured amount in a container of boiling water, mix thoroughly and allow it to cool before distributing it evenly over the pond surface. Prepare the mixture where the container can stand securely. Let it cool fully before application; the hot preparation water is not intended to be poured straight into the pond.
Keep the product in its original labelled packaging, and read the handling and storage instructions before use. Cloverleaf advises a face mask and gloves when handling aquatic medications and water treatments. Keep measuring equipment for pond treatments separate from food utensils, and retain the supplied spoon with the product so that the next application can be measured consistently.
UV clarifiers, protein skimmers and biological filters
The manufacturer’s guidance allows UV clarifiers to remain switched on during treatment. Protein skimmers should be switched off for 24 hours after adding Absolute Fluke+. These are separate pieces of equipment with different functions: the instruction about a protein skimmer does not mean that the entire filtration system should be switched off.
Cloverleaf states that Absolute Fluke+ will not harm filter bacteria. Continue observing the pond and checking water conditions during treatment. If you are unsure which equipment in your installation is a protein skimmer, identify it before starting rather than switching off unrelated equipment. Record when treatment was added so you know when the stated 24-hour period has elapsed.
Important livestock restrictions
Do not use Absolute Fluke+ in a pond containing shrimp, snails, or any other crustaceans or molluscs. This restriction is explicit in Cloverleaf’s instructions. A pond may contain these animals even when fish are the main livestock, so consider the whole pond community before choosing this treatment. Plant compatibility does not remove the restriction for invertebrates.
The manufacturer identifies marginal plants and water lilies as compatible. If your pond includes other sensitive livestock or you are unsure whether the restrictions apply, obtain suitable advice before treating. Do not assume that another product with a similar name has the same formulation, dose or restrictions: check that the pack is Absolute Fluke+ and use its own directions.
Repeat treatment and other pond products
For a heavy infestation, Cloverleaf specifies a repeat dose after seven days. It also advises allowing seven days before adding any other treatments. Keep a written treatment record including the date, pond volume, quantity used and observations. This is particularly useful if another person also helps maintain the pond, because both of you can see what has already been added.
Do not shorten the interval or add a different medication simply because the fish have not immediately returned to normal behaviour. Review the diagnosis, water readings and manufacturer’s instructions, and seek help if the fish deteriorate. Planning the treatment sequence before the first dose helps avoid incompatible or overlapping additions.
Water testing alongside fish-health care
The NT Labs Pond Lab Multi-Test Kit checks pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, KH and GH. These water measurements provide useful context when investigating fish-health problems, but they do not identify parasites. For separate pH monitoring, compare our NT Labs Pond pH Test Kits and choose a measuring range appropriate to your water.
This listing supplies one 50g pack of Cloverleaf Absolute Fluke+. It is a targeted medication, rather than a routine water conditioner or a substitute for identifying why fish are unwell. Check the pond volume, livestock restrictions and equipment instructions before ordering, then follow the current pack directions when treatment is appropriate.
