Signs an air pump is due for servicing

• Previously active air stones now produce fewer or uneven bubbles.
• Airflow briefly improves when airline or manifold restriction is removed.
• The pump has become louder, harsher or more prone to vibration.
• The intake pad is dirty and the diaphragms have completed a long service interval.
• A visual inspection finds split rubber, distorted valves or tired seals.

Before opening the pump, check the simple external causes: blocked air stones, kinked or waterlogged airline, closed manifold taps and a diffuser placed deeper than the pump can work against. Disconnect the manifold temporarily and test the bare outlet. If output immediately returns, the restriction is downstream rather than inside the pump.

Safe installation

1. Disconnect the pump from the electricity supply and remove it to a clean, dry work area.
2. Photograph cable routing, valves and diaphragm orientation before dismantling.
3. Follow the model manual and fit every matched component in the kit rather than mixing old and new valve parts.
4. Keep dirt away from valve faces and never lubricate parts unless the manufacturer specifically instructs it.
5. Reassemble the casing evenly, confirm seals are seated and test the pump before reconnecting all diffusers.

Will the Koi Air 50/65 kit fit a Koi Air 25?

No. The listed BL655 option is specifically for Koi Air 50 and 65 pumps.

Does a service kit include air stones and airline?

No. It contains internal service components; diffusers, airline and external manifolds are separate accessories.

Why is airflow still low after servicing?

Check diffuser blockage, airline restriction, installation depth and manifold settings. The pump may also have an electrical or magnetic fault outside the scope of the kit.

Must the pump be switched off to service it?

Yes. Electrically isolate it and work in a clean, dry place. Never dismantle outdoor electrical equipment while connected.
