Blagdon outdoor water feature pumps
The Blagdon 550, 1000 and 1800 outdoor feature pumps are compact submersible pumps for self-contained garden features, small cascades and decorative reservoirs. All three use a 10-metre mains cable and verified IP68 pump housing.
Feature pumps are often selected by headline flow alone, but the more useful questions are how high the water must be lifted, how narrow the internal pipework is and whether the pump will remain submerged throughout normal evaporation. Use the pump for the job it was designed to do
These are fixed-output pumps. Use a suitable valve on the outlet if a modest reduction is required, but never starve the inlet or operate the pump without water.
These compact pumps are intended for clean-water decorative features rather than dirty-water filtration duty. If the reservoir collects leaves, gravel or mulch, use a protective intake arrangement and clean it before the flow drops enough to affect the display.
Pipework, lift and real-world flow
Maximum flow is quoted with minimal resistance. A narrow hose, sharp elbow or raised spill point can reduce the delivered water considerably. Keep the pipe run short, use the supplied hose fittings where appropriate and avoid unnecessary restrictions. For a sheet waterfall or a feature with a broad outlet, calculate the required flow at the actual lift before ordering.
Routine care
- Keep the pump continuously submerged while running.
- Check the intake whenever the feature sounds different or the display weakens.
- Remove mineral deposits carefully in hard-water areas.
- Protect exposed pipework and the feature bowl during freezing weather.
- Isolate the outdoor supply before handling the pump.
