Blagdon Amphibious IQ External Run Kit
Mount your Amphibious IQ pump outside the pond or in a separate reservoir
The Blagdon Amphibious IQ External Run Kit gives an existing Amphibious IQ pump a different installation option. It provides the mounting plate, inlet fittings and small protective cage used when removing the pump from its large outer cage. This is useful when arranging a filter area where the pump needs to sit beside the equipment, or when installing it in a separate water reservoir.
The kit is an accessory for the Amphibious IQ pump range. Your pump, controller, pipework and filtration equipment are purchased separately. Choose it when you want to change the way a working pump is mounted and connected; it does not increase the pump’s rated flow or replace its motor, impeller or electrical controller.
What comes in the kit?
- Stepped hose tail
- Hose-tail lock nut and O-ring
- Pump foot plate
- Four rubber feet
- Four screws and wall plugs
- Pre-filter cage
These parts cover the two arrangements shown in Blagdon’s instructions. The hose tail is used for an external in-line connection, while the small pre-filter cage is used for the reservoir arrangement. Lay the components out before starting, so that the sealing ring and smaller mounting pieces are easy to identify and keep together.
Compatible Amphibious IQ pumps
Blagdon identifies this accessory as part number 1111119. It appears in the shared Amphibious IQ instructions for the following models, which we also list individually:
- Amphibious IQ 2250–4500
- Amphibious IQ 3000–6000
- Amphibious IQ 4500–9000
- Amphibious IQ 6000–12000
Check the full model name on your pump before ordering. If its label is unclear, send us a photograph of the label and the pump body so we can help identify it. The external kit is a practical addition to an existing Amphibious IQ installation, especially where access to the equipment has changed following a filter upgrade or a pond redesign.
External in-line or reservoir installation
For an in-line arrangement, the pump is connected into the water circuit using hose connections. Plan both the incoming and outgoing runs before fixing the mounting plate. Leave room around the connections so that the pump can be removed for servicing without dismantling the surrounding filter area. Account for the actual route of the hoses, including bends, rather than measuring only the straight distance between pieces of equipment.
For a reservoir arrangement, Blagdon shows the pump sitting in the separate water chamber with the smaller pre-filter cage fitted. The kit therefore gives you a choice of inlet fittings to suit the illustrated installation. Use the arrangement that matches your system and follow the pump manual for positioning and operation.
Blagdon’s in-line diagram positions the pump below the operating water level. When planning the installation, keep the pump supplied with water and remember that moving it outside the pond does not mean it can run without water. If you are unsure whether your filter layout provides the required supply, check the layout with us before changing the installation.
Mounting and making the connections
The foot plate allows the pump to be positioned in three directions, helping you align it with the planned hose route. Check that the chosen mounting position leaves the inlet, outlet and pump body accessible before marking the fixing points. Blagdon explains that releasing the pump completely from its original cage involves unscrewing the handle section at the rear. Follow the illustrated procedure in the manual rather than forcing the pump or cage apart.
Disconnect the electricity before handling the pump. Check that the hose-tail O-rings are seated correctly before restarting, and inspect the finished connections for leaks. Choose hose and fittings that suit the pump and the rest of the system; the kit does not include the lengths of hose needed to connect your equipment.
Leave access for maintenance
Blagdon recommends considering an isolation valve on each side of an in-line pump. Closing those valves for maintenance can prevent the pond and filter water draining away when the pump is removed. Plan their positions where you can reach them comfortably, with enough clearance to operate each handle.
Our pond pump range is a useful place to compare supporting parts. Before buying additional fittings, note the hose size, available space and the connection arrangement on your existing equipment. Keeping those measurements with a photograph of the installation makes it easier to select the correct parts together.
Retain the Blagdon Amphibious IQ instructions for the installation diagrams and servicing guidance. Check the cage and connections during normal maintenance, and investigate any change in flow or water level before continuing to run the pump.
