Evolution Aqua Varipump Replacement Control Boxes

Spare controllers for the Varipump 10,000, 20,000 and 30,000 pond pumps

These Evolution Aqua Varipump control boxes are replacement electrical controllers for the corresponding Varipump model. Choose the 10,000, 20,000 or 30,000 option to match your pump. The pump is sold separately.

A replacement controller can be useful when the original unit has been diagnosed as faulty and the pump itself remains serviceable. It is important to establish the cause of the problem first: an error on the display can indicate a condition elsewhere in the system. Replacing the box will not remove debris from an impeller, prime an empty pump or correct an unsuitable electrical supply.

Select the controller for your pump model

Controller Pump model
10,000 Evolution Aqua Varipump 10,000
20,000 Evolution Aqua Varipump 20,000
30,000 Evolution Aqua Varipump 30,000

Choose the controller that matches the model on your pump label. Check the connections on your existing control box before ordering. If you need help identifying the right replacement, send us a photograph of the pump label and controller connections.

Adjusting output and reading the display

The Varipump uses an external control box to adjust its operating level and switch the pump on or off. Evolution Aqua’s manual describes a temporary power-level indication when adjusting the setting, followed by the operating power consumption in watts. The adjustment scale is not a measurement of litres per hour at the filter outlet.

Actual water delivery depends on the installed system, including pipework, fittings, elevation and connected equipment. After a controller replacement, check the circulation through your pond filter and any waterfall or return circuit. Do not rely on a remembered display number alone to confirm that the pond is receiving the same flow as before the repair.

Check a fault before replacing the control box

Record the displayed fault code and the circumstances in which it appeared. Useful details include whether the pump had been cleaned, whether the water level changed and whether there had been a power interruption. These observations help distinguish a controller fault from a blocked rotor, a connection issue or a supply problem.

Use the manufacturer’s fault guide for the correct production period. The same code can have different meanings in the pre-2021 and post-2021 guides, so a single combined code list can lead to the wrong diagnosis. Evolution Aqua also explains that an HHH indication following a power interruption can be associated with reduced mains voltage; it does not automatically establish that the pump or controller needs replacing.

Disconnect the electrical supply before inspecting accessible components or cleaning the pump in accordance with its instructions. Stop using equipment with visibly damaged cables or connectors. Have electrical faults investigated by a qualified electrician.

Mounting and weather protection

The Varipump manual rates the control box IPX4. Evolution Aqua permits outdoor use but states that the controller must not be submerged. Keep it positioned where pond overflow, standing water and flooding cannot reach it.

Use the mounting arrangement described in the instructions and leave the display, buttons and cable connections accessible. Plan the position so the cables are not stretched, trapped by a cabinet door or left where routine maintenance could damage them. Retain the original electrical installation requirements and arrange competent installation where necessary.

If you are also reorganising the pond electrics, the Blagdon PowerSafe 4 Way Switch Box provides separately switched circuits. Have the electrician check circuit ratings, protection and the required wiring arrangement.

What this spare replaces

Select this product when you need the control box for an identified Varipump model. If the required part is an impeller, seal or another pump component, compare the relevant pump accessories and replacement parts instead. A controller and an impeller address different faults, even when both problems result in reduced or absent flow.

Before fitting the replacement, check that the mounting position leaves enough room for the box and its connections. Keep cables clear of sharp edges and allow access for future servicing.
