The Aquascape Large Snorkel Vault and Cap, part number 29064, forms the vertical service chamber within an original-generation Aquascape wetland or bog filter. It is positioned at the edge of the filter bed and connects to compatible Centipede modules at the lowest point of the system.

During normal operation, pond water enters the Centipede modules beneath the filter bed. Water velocity is reduced, heavier sediment settles and the water then rises through the graded stone and gravel above. When cleaning is required, the cap is lifted and a suitable solids-handling cleanout pump can be lowered through the vault to remove collected sediment. This provides practical access without dismantling the complete filter bed or carrying out invasive dredging.

Important compatibility note: This is the original Aquascape Large Snorkel Vault, part 29064. It is not the newer Snorkel Vault V2, part 51007. Original and V2 components should not be assumed to fit one another, so check the part numbers before ordering.

How the Snorkel and Centipede system works

The Snorkel Vault is the maintenance access point rather than a complete filter by itself. Compatible Centipede modules sit horizontally at the base of the wetland filter and distribute incoming water beneath the filtration zone. The larger void around the Centipedes provides space for sediment to settle before water passes upward through layers of stone and gravel, where mechanical and biological filtration take place.

When the filter bed is flushed, the settled material is directed towards the lower collection area and removed through the Snorkel Vault. Keeping this access point clear is essential, even if the cap is disguised within the surrounding landscape.

Planning and installation advice

Wetland filters are site-specific. Pond volume, fish load, incoming flow, the number and arrangement of Centipede modules, excavation depth, liner detailing and the intended maintenance method should all be established before construction begins.

• Position the Snorkel Vault at the lowest accessible point of the filter chamber.
• Confirm the complete Centipede layout before removing any moulded connection caps.
• Keep the removable lid accessible after stone and landscaping have been installed.
• Use the Aquascape Large Snorkel Vault Extension where additional height is required.
• Follow the current Aquascape installation instructions for excavation, liner protection, backfilling and connections.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Large Snorkel Vault filter the water by itself?

No. It provides access to the bottom of a complete wetland filtration system. The Centipede modules, settlement area, AquaBlox where specified, graded stone, gravel and biological activity form the filtration zone.

Is the cap included?

Yes. Part 29064 includes the Large Snorkel Vault and its removable cap.

Can more than one Centipede module be connected?

Yes. The vault has four moulded connection positions. One is open as supplied and the remaining positions can be opened where required by the system design.

Is this compatible with the newer V2 system?

This is the original-generation 29064 vault. Do not assume compatibility with V2 components. Match the manufacturer part numbers before ordering replacement or extension pieces.

When is a vault extension required?

An extension is used when the filter bed or excavation is deeper than the standard vault height. The cap is transferred to the top of the extension so maintenance access remains at the finished surface.
