AquaForte Prime Buster UV-C 80 W
The AquaForte Prime Buster 80 W is a professional amalgam UV-C reactor for large koi ponds, ornamental ponds and swimming-pond circuits. Its 316L stainless-steel chamber is designed for high flow while the electronic ballast reports lamp status and remaining service life.
UV-C is most effective when the water is mechanically clean and passes the lamp at the correct rate. It can control the free-floating algae responsible for green water and reduce microbial pressure, but it does not remove the resulting particles; the pond filter still has to capture them.
Professional UV-C features
- 1 × 80W amalgam
- 316L stainless-steel reactor body
- Electronic ballast with lamp-status and end-of-life indication
- Transparent lamp head for a visual operating check
- Adjustable base for level horizontal or vertical installation
- Flow-switch protection
- Maximum stated operating pressure of 2.5 bar

Getting a meaningful UV dose
Do not select a UV only by pond volume. The real flow through the chamber, water clarity, lamp age and quartz-sleeve condition determine exposure. A flow that is acceptable for green-water clarification may be too fast for a higher disinfection target.
Install unions and isolation so the lamp and quartz sleeve can be removed without dismantling the whole plant room. Leave the full service length clear, keep the ballast dry and never view an exposed operating UV-C lamp.
Our practical view: On a high-value pond the Buster belongs after effective mechanical filtration, where clean water allows UV energy to reach its target. We would rather split or slow the UV branch correctly than send the entire pump output through the chamber simply because the pipe fits.
Frequently asked questions
Will this replace a pond filter?
No. UV-C treats organisms suspended in the passing water; mechanical and biological filtration still remove solids and process fish waste.
What does the flow switch do?
It protects the lamp system by detecting water flow; use it as a safety feature, not a substitute for correct commissioning.
When should the lamp be replaced?
Follow the operating-hour indication and current AquaForte service schedule. A lamp can still glow after useful UV-C output has declined.
Why clean the quartz sleeve?
Limescale and biofilm block UV-C transmission, so a powerful lamp behind a dirty sleeve can perform poorly.
Can it be installed horizontally?
The adjustable mounting arrangement supports horizontal or vertical installation when the current manual, flow direction and service clearance are followed.
