TMC UV Replacement Bulbs for Pond Clarifiers
Choose the correct replacement lamp for your TMC UV unit
These TMC replacement UV bulbs are for compatible pond clarifiers. Select the lamp option that matches the equipment you are servicing: 15W, 25W, 30W or 55W, with a 110W option for the corresponding twin-lamp unit. Choose the lamp that matches the requirements of your existing equipment: this is a replacement component for an enclosed UV unit, rather than a complete clarifier.
The 15W and 25W options, plus the explicitly labelled 30W Hyperion and 55W Hyperion options, use genuine TMC Hyperion quartz UV-C lamps. Their maintained output is a useful feature for routine servicing. TMC rates Hyperion lamps for up to 12,000 operating hours at 85% output and describes their life as 50% longer than its standard lamps. Those are manufacturer lamp-performance figures. The clarity achieved in a pond also depends on the complete installation, including the UV unit, water flow and filtration.
Standard replacement or genuine Hyperion?
At 30W and 55W, select the option marked Hyperion when you want the genuine TMC extended-life lamp. The existing options labelled simply 30w, 55w and 110w are separate replacement choices: the Hyperion life specification must not be assumed for those options. Matching the wattage alone does not identify the lamp range.
Available lamp options

Each Hyperion option supplies one lamp. A quartz sleeve, seals, ballast, electrical lead and clarifier housing are separate components. If your UV unit uses two lamps, check the quantity required as well as the wattage of each individual lamp before ordering. The total power shown in a unit’s name may describe more than one tube.
Check the existing lamp before choosing
Start with the model label on your UV equipment and its replacement-parts information. Record the lamp wattage, fitting and part reference. Compare those details with the selected option, rather than relying only on the brand on the outside of the clarifier. A manufacturer can use different lamp formats across its ranges.
The 15W and 25W Hyperion lamps are T8 linear tubes with G13 fittings. A compact folded lamp is a different design, even when its wattage sounds similar. Likewise, a tube intended for ordinary lighting is not a replacement UV-C lamp. Keep the packaging or reference from the old lamp if it is still readable, as this can make future ordering easier.
Select the specified wattage for the equipment. A higher-wattage tube is not an upgrade that should be fitted simply because it appears to fit the housing. The lamp, electrical control gear and UV chamber must work together as intended. If you cannot identify the required replacement, have the equipment details checked before opening a new lamp or attempting to install it.
Understanding lamp life and replacement timing
Operating hours describe the time a lamp has actually been switched on. A UV running continuously accumulates hours differently from one used seasonally. Recording the installation date and approximate operating schedule gives you a more useful maintenance record than relying on the colour of the visible indicator alone.
A visible glow confirms that a lamp is illuminated through the equipment’s intended viewing point; it does not measure its useful UV-C output. Use the maintenance schedule for your particular clarifier alongside the lamp information. Replacing an ageing lamp is part of routine servicing, but a new tube does not resolve every cause of poor pond clarity.
Inspect the quartz sleeve during servicing
The lamp and the quartz sleeve perform different jobs. The lamp produces UV-C radiation, while the sleeve separates the lamp from the water within the equipment. Dirt or deposits on the sleeve can interfere with transmission. When the unit is opened for a lamp change, follow its instructions for checking and cleaning the sleeve.
Inspect accessible seals and connections at the same time. A cracked sleeve, worn seal or damaged lamp connector needs its own appropriate replacement; fitting a new lamp will not repair it. Use the exact parts specified for the unit and keep track of their positions when disassembling the housing.
Fitting your replacement lamp
Disconnect the equipment from the electricity supply before opening it and follow the manufacturer’s isolation and servicing instructions. Give the equipment time to cool where required. Handle the glass carefully, support the lamp while disconnecting it and avoid forcing the pins or end caps into a connector that does not line up correctly.
Never operate a UV-C lamp outside its protective equipment or look directly at an exposed operating tube. Make any operating check through the viewing arrangement intended by the equipment manufacturer, with the housing correctly assembled. Restore water circulation and electrical operation in the order specified for your unit.
Choosing the right spare for your pond
Compare your equipment with our TMC Pro Pond UV clarifiers. For the smaller models, check the TMC Pro Pond UV15 and TMC Pro Pond UV25. Matching the actual lamp specification is still essential when servicing equipment from another range or generation.
If the water remains green after maintenance, review the complete system: confirm that the UV is operating, that the sleeve is clean and that the flow is appropriate for the equipment. Also check the mechanical filter and pond conditions. For help identifying a replacement, contact That Pond Guy with the unit model and a clear photograph of the old lamp’s markings.
