AquaForte Floating Pond Skimmer with 60W Pump
Collect floating debris with a self-contained surface skimmer
The AquaForte Floating Pond Skimmer combines a floating collection unit with its own 60W pump. It draws surface water into a collection basket, helping you remove floating debris before it settles elsewhere in the pond. A foam filter pad is also supplied, together with a 10-metre power cable.
AquaForte rates this model for pond surfaces up to approximately 50m², with a pump capacity of up to 3,000 litres per hour. It is intended for freshwater koi and ornamental ponds. Because the pump is built into the unit, this model provides a separate surface-cleaning function alongside the pond’s existing filtration.

Choose using surface area, not pond volume
The 50m² figure describes the pond’s surface, rather than the amount of water it holds. For a rectangular pond, multiply the surface length by the width: a pond measuring 5 metres by 4 metres has a surface area of 20m². For an irregular pond, divide the outline into simpler sections to make an approximate calculation.
Surface area is a starting point when choosing a skimmer. Wind, planting, overhanging trees and the shape of the pond influence where floating material collects. A long pond divided by islands or dense planting can behave differently from an open pond of the same area. Observe the surface before choosing where the unit will work most effectively.
The stated pump flow is not a replacement for the circulation requirement of your main pond filter. Continue to choose and maintain your biological filtration for the fish load and pond volume. Surface skimming handles material at the top of the water; it does not remove sediment that has already settled on the bottom.
Where this model fits into your pond
This is useful where you want a floating skimmer with its own pump rather than a separate intake connected to another pump. If you are comparing alternatives, the Oase SwimSkim 25 and Oase SwimSkim 50 CWS are other floating models in our range. Compare their individual specifications against your pond rather than choosing by the model name alone.
Plan access for emptying the basket as well as the cable route. The supplied cable is 10 metres long, but the practical reach depends on the route to a suitable power connection. Avoid a position that makes regular cleaning difficult or requires the unit to be lifted by its electrical lead.
Empty collected debris regularly
Check how quickly the basket fills during the first few days of use. A pond below trees may need more frequent attention when leaves are falling, and windy weather can change the amount of debris arriving at the surface. Emptying the basket before it becomes heavily obstructed helps maintain the water path through the skimmer.
Disconnect the power before handling or cleaning the unit. Remove accumulated material and inspect the foam pad and intake for obstruction. The manufacturer notes that a dirty or blocked intake reduces performance, so a drop in collection should prompt a check for debris before assuming that the pump has failed.
Keep the pump submerged during operation and never run it dry. The manual also discusses limescale accumulation and cleaning the pump where necessary. Follow its maintenance instructions for the actual components fitted; do not alter the pump or attempt to repair a damaged supply cord.
Running power and day-to-day use
At its stated 60W rating, continuous operation for 24 hours represents 1.44kWh of electricity. Multiply that figure by your electricity price per kWh to estimate the daily energy cost. This calculation is based on the published rating rather than a measured consumption test, and your chosen operating hours will affect the total.
Watch the pond after installation to check that floating material can reach the collection area. If debris remains trapped behind plants or in a separate corner, consider the surface water movement and available access before relocating the unit. A skimmer works best as part of a regular pond-care routine, alongside removing accumulated bottom waste and maintaining the main filter.
Read the installation instructions
This model is for freshwater pond use and must not be used in swimming pools. Read the AquaForte floating skimmer manual before installing or operating it. Keep the instructions with the equipment so that future cleaning and maintenance follow the correct procedure.
