Exactly what is included

Oase ProfiSkim Wall 100 skimmer 1 Ă— Oase 70895
Oase wide mouth extension 1 Ă— Oase 70928
Kit type That Pond Guy pairing of two original Oase products

The base unit includes its standard removable basket, lid and skimmer flap. The wide mouth extension is the matching Oase accessory with its associated fitting parts and front trim as supplied by Oase. These are two original products brought together as a retailer kit, rather than a separate Oase factory kit with its own manufacturer part number.

The kit does not include the straight skimmer extension 70927, a height extension, a stainless steel faceplate, a pump or installation pipework. Oase specifies that the straight extension and wide mouth extension are alternatives: they cannot both be fitted to the same skimmer. This kit therefore uses the wide mouth component alone.

How the skimmer collects surface debris

Water enters through the wall intake and carries floating debris into the removable basket before that material can settle elsewhere in the pond. The float-operated flap follows the working water level and helps retain collected debris when flow stops. Keeping the basket accessible makes routine emptying part of normal pond care, particularly when leaves are falling.

Oase rates the base skimmer for pond surfaces up to 30m². Surface area is the relevant published measure here, rather than a universal pond-volume rating. The wide mouth increases the entrance width, but it does not establish a new, higher guaranteed pond-area rating for the assembled kit. Plan its position with the pond’s shape, surface-water movement and return arrangement in mind.

Dimensions for planning the wall

Skimmer body, length Ă— width Ă— height 273 Ă— 267 Ă— 408mm
Wide mouth outer face, width Ă— height 463 Ă— 237mm
Wide mouth extension depth 274mm
Wide mouth wall-opening template 385 Ă— 160mm; refer to Oase drawing I for fixing details
Main outlet DN110
Optional overflow provision DN50; requires opening and separate pipework
Recommended gravity-fed flow 12,000 litres/hour
Manufacturer pumped-flow range 6,000–16,000 litres/hour

The body dimensions and extension dimensions describe the separate components. They should not be added together to invent an overall assembled depth: the mating faces and installation position affect the final arrangement. Use the supplied parts and Oase’s dimensioned drawings when setting out the wall, including the cut-out and fixing pattern. A product photograph is not a drilling template.

Concrete and block-built pond installations

Oase specifies the wide mouth accessory for installation in a concrete wall. For a block-built pond, the builder needs to provide a suitable stable mounting detail around the intake and coordinate it with the pond’s concrete construction and waterproofing system. There is no single block thickness in the cited instructions that makes every wall suitable. Check the required recess, rear clearance and pipe route before the wall and coping are finished.

The skimmer should be level, with the intended pond waterline positioned within the marked operating range. Leave clear access above the lid so the basket can be removed without disturbing permanent construction. Consider the future route for the DN110 connection at the same time; a neat opening in the front wall is only one part of a serviceable installation.

The manufacturer shows a gasket between the extension and skimmer, with the parts joined using the specified screws. Its concrete-wall instructions also show the sealing arrangement at the pond lining. Follow the supplied instructions for the actual waterproofing detail; do not substitute an assumed adhesive or tightening method. The optional stainless trim is a separate finish choice, not a structural sealing substitute.

Connecting the skimmer to the pond system

The DN110 outlet provides the main connection to the circulation or filtration arrangement. Oase publishes a recommended gravity-fed flow of 12,000 litres per hour and a pumped range of 6,000–16,000 litres per hour. These are equipment-selection figures, not a claim that the kit contains a pump or produces flow on its own. Check the complete hydraulic arrangement, including pipework, levels and connected equipment.

Compare the separate ProfiSkim Wall 100 skimmer if you need the standard inlet, or the 70928 wide mouth extension if you already own the compatible base unit. These links help avoid buying a second skimmer when only the accessory is required.

Basket access and the wildlife escape route

The base skimmer includes an escape arrangement for small amphibians. It needs to be allowed for in the installation: the manual describes using the side opening near the top and providing a usable route out. Burying or enclosing that opening defeats its purpose. Keep the main lid safely closed during normal use while retaining access for inspection.

For a fish pond, Oase requires the filter basket to remain fitted. Empty it regularly and inspect the intake and flap for trapped debris. A full basket or obstructed flap can reduce collection, while a low pond water level can prevent the intake working properly. Checking those visible parts is a useful first step if surface cleaning deteriorates.
