Pond Project Transformations Across Kent: Bespoke Builds and Restorations by That Pond Guy
Welcome to our pond project transformations page. Here, we showcase a selection of bespoke pond, stream, and water feature projects completed across a wide range of locations. At That Pond Guy, we design and build custom water features that balance natural aesthetics with long term performance.
From wildlife ponds and feature waterfalls through to floating cantilever jetties and advanced filtration systems, every project is tailored to its setting and purpose. As a result, each build works both visually and practically within its environment.
Our portfolio includes a broad range of pond transformations. These range from the full restoration of overgrown streams to technically complex pond builds in sensitive and high profile locations. Many of these projects form part of wider pond building works, while others focus on specialist elements such as structural changes, filtration upgrades, or complete relining through our pond fibreglassing service.
In addition, several of the projects featured here highlight our specialist koi pond building work. In these cases, water quality, filtration performance, and long term reliability are always a priority. We apply the same approach whether we are restoring an existing pond, rebuilding a neglected water feature, or constructing something entirely new.
If you are considering transforming a pond or commissioning a bespoke build, the projects below show what can be achieved with careful planning and specialist construction. Ultimately, each example demonstrates how a well designed pond can elevate an outdoor space and deliver lasting enjoyment.
Swimming Pool Turned Pond Renovation – Buckhurst Estate, Sussex
- A complex renovation of a historic pond originally constructed as a swimming pool more than 100 years ago within the grounds of Buckhurst Estate in Sussex.
- What appeared to be a 1.2 metre deep pond was discovered to conceal a fully formed swimming pool beneath, including a sloping ramp and a deep end measuring approximately 2.2 metres.
- Around 45 cubic metres of compacted mud, stone, and historic infill were removed before refurbishment could begin, much of it carried out by hand due to access restrictions.
- The pond was fully fibreglass lined, York stone edging carefully relaid, the water feature rebuilt, and internal supports added for planting, restoring the pond as a striking centrepiece within the historic gardens.
Lion Rescue Centre Pond – Big Cat Sanctuary, Kent
- A specialist wildlife pond designed and built for Vanda, one of five lions rescued from Ukraine and now living at the Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent.
- Features a natural style waterfall to provide enrichment, movement, and a calming atmosphere within the enclosure.
- Equipped with a fully hidden, self cleaning drum filtration system to maintain clean, healthy water with minimal ongoing maintenance for the keepers.
- Built to be durable, reliable, and low maintenance while blending seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.
Stream Rebuild – Hawkhurst, Kent
- A complete transformation of a 35 year old, 50m man made stream that had become heavily overgrown and neglected.
- The new owners were unaware the stream even existed until our team uncovered and restored it.
- Overgrowth was removed, the old liner replaced, and new natural stone and high efficiency pumps installed.
- The restored stream now flows naturally through the landscape, enhancing both appearance and water quality.
Cantilever Pond Jetty – Deal, Kent
- A bespoke cantilever jetty constructed over a picturesque pond in Deal, Kent.
- The jetty spans 8m in length and 4m in width and is supported from one end only, removing the need for any pond based supports.
- The cantilever design protects the pond lining while creating a striking floating visual effect.
- Built using durable steel beams, timber decking, oak posts, and rope detailing to combine strength with natural character.
