Stream Rebuild in Hawkhurst, Kent: Transforming a Man-Made Stream into a Pristine Landscape

In May 2023, That Pond Guy undertook a captivating stream rebuild project in Hawkhurst, Kent, breathing new life into a 50-meter-long man-made stream. This ambitious stream rebuild aimed to create a beautifully structured and functional water feature that harmonizes with the natural surroundings.

Enhancing the Stream with Quality Materials

The centrepiece of this stream rebuild is a 50-meter stretch that we completely relined and edged with Kentish ragstone rocks, providing a visually cohesive and natural appearance. We meticulously covered the liner with 20mm ragstone gravel, further enhancing the stream’s rustic charm. At the top of the stream, we also relayed and repointed the patio, while applying a custom fibreglass lining to the holding tank for added durability and waterproofing.

Pond Reinforcement for Lasting Stability

As part of the stream rebuild, we drained both ponds and removed built-up silt, followed by a concrete base installation. This structural reinforcement stabilises the ponds and aids in maintaining cleaner water quality. We then covered the ponds in 20mm ragstone, creating a natural visual appeal that complements the landscape of Kent.

Installing Advanced Filtration and Circulation Systems

To maintain pristine water conditions, we installed a Burtons TF-1000 Drum Filter, paired with two Aqua Forte 45,000 pumps for optimal water circulation. An additional Aqua Forte 45,000 pump pushes water to the top of the stream, creating a gentle, natural flow that completes the tranquil ambiance of this stream rebuild.

Adding a Captivating Focal Point

For an added touch of elegance, we installed an Oase PondJet Eco floating fountain in the main pond, featuring an Oase RGB light kit and an Oase Inscenio FM-Master wireless controller. This feature brings vibrant color and movement to the pond, especially captivating in the evening.
