Waterlife Parazin P Fish Lice & Anchor Worm Treatment

A convenient tablet treatment for visible crustacean parasites

Parazin P is Waterlife’s pond treatment for fish lice, anchor worm, gill maggots and other insect or crustacean parasites. These organisms are biologically different from microscopic flukes and protozoa, so they require the correct targeted product rather than a general fish remedy.

The tablet packs cover ponds up to 2,270, 9,000 or 22,500 litres. Waterlife states that one dose is usually required, but the pond must still be monitored for later life stages and re-infestation. Inspect affected fish and the pond environment carefully, and obtain confirmation if the parasite is not clearly visible.

What this Waterlife treatment is for

  • Targets fish lice, anchor worm, gill maggots and related crustacean parasites.
  • Easy-to-count tablet format for volume-based dosing.
  • Waterlife states that one dose is usually sufficient.
  • Three pack sizes cover small ponds through to large koi systems.
  • Stated to be safe for fish, plants and biological filter bacteria when used as directed.

Check the pond before treating

Start by testing ammonia, nitrite, pH and, where relevant, KH. Poor water quality can cause lethargy, flashing, excess mucus, sore skin and secondary infection, so adding medication without checking the water can hide the real cause. Work out the actual pond volume after allowing for shelves, rockwork, pipework and filter chambers; a guessed volume can lead to under-dosing or over-dosing.

Calculate the pond volume and use the tablet quantity specified on the current pack. Distribute the prepared treatment as directed, maintain aeration and monitor the fish. Examine fish again after the manufacturer’s stated interval because attached parasites and environmental life stages may not all be noticed at the first inspection.

  • Do not use with another fish medication at the same time unless Waterlife specifically permits it.
  • Remove activated carbon, zeolite and other chemical-adsorption media if the current label instructs you to do so.
  • Follow the current label regarding UV clarifiers and ozone during the treatment course.
  • Do not use a preventative dose simply to compensate for poor water quality or an unconfirmed diagnosis.
  • Do not use around crayfish, shrimps, crabs, lobsters or related crustaceans unless the current label explicitly permits it.

Read the current container label before every use because formulations, directions and regulatory wording can change. Do not mix remedies unless the manufacturer explicitly says they are compatible. Keep strong aeration running, watch the fish during treatment and obtain specialist advice when the diagnosis is uncertain or fish are severely distressed.

Available sizes and stated coverage

Pack size Manufacturer’s stated coverage Supplier code
20 Tablets Up to 2,270 litres WR843
80 Tablets Up to 9,000 litres WR963
200 Tablets Up to 22,500 litres WR962

Use it as part of a complete pond-care plan

For microscopic gill or body flukes, compare Sterazin P. For external bacterial damage left after a parasite has detached, see Myxazin P. Browse all pond fish medicines.

A treatment can correct a specific problem, but long-term results still depend on appropriate filtration, circulation, oxygen, stocking and feeding. Remove decaying waste, clean mechanical filtration sensibly and retest the water after the course instead of repeatedly adding products by appearance alone.

Frequently asked questions

What does Parazin P treat?

Waterlife lists fish lice, anchor worm, gill maggots and other crustacean parasites or predators.

Is one dose enough?

Waterlife states that one dose is usually required, but follow the current label and monitor for later life stages or re-infestation.

Is Parazin P the same as a fluke treatment?

No. Fish lice and anchor worm are crustacean parasites; Sterazin P is the Waterlife product for gill and body flukes.

Can I use it in a pond containing shrimps or crayfish?

Do not do so unless the current label specifically permits it, because the treatment targets crustacean organisms.
