Where the Koi-Flow 30 fits in the range
The Koi-Flow 30 occupies the middle position in SuperFish’s three-model aeration-kit range. Its maximum air output is 1,800 litres per hour, or 30 litres per minute, and the manufacturer specifies 25W power consumption. It is a useful model to compare when the 20’s lower output is insufficient but the installation does not call for the larger 60. The choice should be based on the air circuit and its demand, rather than on the model number alone.
The Koi-Flow 20 has a maximum capacity of 1,200 litres per hour at a stated 15W. Stepping from that kit to this one increases the maximum capacity by 50%, with a 10W increase in stated power. These are comparisons of published figures, not a promise that every installed airstone will receive 50% more air. The Koi-Flow 60 provides a further option at 3,600 litres per hour maximum and 35W.
The aeration set supplied here
SuperFish lists both individual Koi-Flow pumps and Koi-Flow kits. This product is the set: a Koi-Flow 30 pump, six airstones and 50 metres of airline in total. The six stones provide several possible aeration locations without needing to select the initial hose and stones separately. Additional or replacement fittings can be compared in our air pump accessories.
Plan how the total hose length will be allocated before installation. A stone near the pump will need a different run from one across the pond, and each route must also reach its intended depth. Keep routes accessible for checking and avoid bends that pinch the hose. The supplied 50m is an installation allowance, not a recommendation to use unnecessarily long runs.
Reading the specifications correctly
The table’s 1,800-litre-per-hour capacity is a maximum, while 0.025MPa is a separate published pressure figure. SuperFish’s cited specification does not state that the maximum flow is delivered at that pressure. Do not use the two numbers together as a guaranteed operating point, or turn the pressure figure into an assured working depth without further performance information.
Check the complete arrangement, including the hose, stone condition and immersion depth. Air distribution should also be checked at each stone after installation: six connected branches do not establish six equal flows. If one location performs poorly, inspect its hose and stone rather than assuming that the pump’s total output has fallen.
Installation position and space requirements
The Koi-Flow 30 body measures 24.5 Ă— 20.2 Ă— 20.5cm, and its power cable is specified as 1.87m long. Consider the route to the electrical supply and leave working space for the connections and future servicing. The dimensions describe the housing; the connected hose will need additional room.
SuperFish requires a dry location protected from moisture, with the air pump positioned above the water level. The manual explains that siphoning can otherwise allow water to enter and damage the pump. Choose a suitable position before cutting the airline, and follow the supplied instructions for the electrical installation. The hose reaching a location does not by itself make that location suitable for the pump.
Pond circulation and filter applications
The manufacturer’s explanation centres on water movement and the resulting gas exchange at the surface. It also allows for an airstone within a filter to support biological filtration. This gives flexibility in allocating the supplied stones between appropriate parts of a pond system. Check the receiving filter’s own requirements before connecting an air supply to dedicated equipment.
For winter use, SuperFish describes helping to keep an existing hole in the ice open. This is a specific application, rather than a guaranteed ice-free pond rating. The published kit information also does not establish a single maximum pond volume, so compare aeration requirements as well as the physical size of the pond.
Servicing a Koi-Flow 30
The model-specific service-kit number is 07010280. The manufacturer’s kit contains two membranes, two air chambers, two connecting hoses and an air filter. It is available separately for maintenance; it is not an additional spare kit included with this aeration set. Use the full Koi-Flow 30 model reference when arranging replacement parts because the other pump sizes have different service-kit numbers.
When air delivery drops, the manual identifies kinked hose and debris inside the airstone as external checks, with worn valves or diaphragms as other possible causes. SuperFish recommends annual replacement of airline and stones. Disconnect the power before servicing, and follow the model-specific procedure for any internal work.
