Oase PondoVac Replacement Filter Foam and Outlet Strainer Bag

Genuine service parts with clear model and fitting-position guidance

Keep your Oase pond vacuum ready for its next clean with the correct replacement foam or outlet strainer bag. These genuine Oase parts replace two different components: the filter foam is part 44004 for the PondoVac Classic and PondoVac 5, while the external debris strainer bag is part 44005 for the PondoVac 3, 4 and 5. Select the part you need from the options; the foam and bag are sold separately.

Checking the component’s position is as important as checking its name. A foam fitted beneath the vacuum head, a mesh bag at the end of the discharge hose and the PondoVac 5’s internal bag all have different jobs. Match the number on the relevant Oase parts diagram before ordering. This avoids buying a part that looks broadly similar but belongs elsewhere in the cleaner.

Filter foam 44004 One replacement foam for PondoVac Classic and PondoVac 5.
Outlet strainer bag 44005 One external debris strainer bag for PondoVac 3, 4 and 5.

Oase’s UK parts catalogue identifies foam 44004 for PondoVac Classic product 50110 and PondoVac 5 product 41983. It identifies bag 44005 for PondoVac 3 product 37148, PondoVac 4 products 50391 and 42939, and PondoVac 5 product 41983. These references help distinguish the intended machines from similarly named regional or older versions.

Choose the replacement foam when the original foam is missing, damaged or no longer fit to refit after cleaning. It is a shaped service component for the vacuum, rather than a sheet of pond-filter media to cut to size. The specified Oase part gives you the correct replacement for the listed models without choosing material by colour or approximate appearance.

Inspect the foam when carrying out the maintenance described in your cleaner’s instructions. Dirt on an otherwise sound foam may call for cleaning; a split, permanently distorted or deteriorating foam calls for closer inspection and replacement where necessary. Allow access to the component without pulling cables or forcing the motor head. Disconnect the cleaner before removing the head or carrying out any maintenance.

For identifying your machine, compare our Oase PondoVac Classic and PondoVac 5 pages. The PondoVac 3 and 4 also have serviceable components, but this foam should not be ordered for them just because the vacuum belongs to the same brand.

Outlet strainer bag 44005 for PondoVac 3, 4 and 5

The outlet strainer bag collects debris on the discharge side of the cleaner. It is useful when replacing a lost or torn collection bag, allowing you to restore the arrangement specified for your machine. Check the mesh and opening before use and empty accumulated material during cleaning rather than allowing a heavily loaded bag to restrict the discharge.

Oase describes the fine outlet bag supplied with the PondoVac 5 as retaining particles larger than 1mm and states that it is not suitable for pond silt. It is therefore not a complete water-treatment filter and should not be expected to remove very fine suspended sediment or dissolved substances. Decide where the waste water should go before starting, taking account of the material being removed from the pond.

Owners of the PondoVac 3 and PondoVac 4 should follow the discharge-hose positioning instructions for those models. A replacement bag does not change the vacuum’s permitted discharge height, suction depth or hose layout. Keep the outlet accessible so you can check it while cleaning.

Different from the PondoVac 5 internal bag

The PondoVac 5 debris bag with strap, part 44020, sits inside the collection tank and catches larger material before it reaches the discharge pump. That is a separate product. The 44005 bag on this page is used at the outlet, and the two should not be substituted for each other. If the part you are replacing has a retaining strap and is fitted to the tank’s intake distributor, check the internal-bag listing instead.

Fitting, inspection and storage

Use the instructions supplied with your exact cleaner for dismantling, cleaning and reassembly. Disconnect the power first, set removed components down in a clean area and check the replacement against the original before fitting it. Do not force a foam or bag into a position intended for a different component. Examine neighbouring seals, hose connections and the discharge route while access is available.

After cleaning, remove collected debris, rinse the appropriate washable components as directed and inspect for damage that may have been hidden by dirt. Store the accessories with the cleaner so the correct parts are ready next time. If suction remains poor after routine maintenance, investigate the complete hose and tank arrangement using the troubleshooting guide rather than assuming that a new bag or foam will cure every performance problem.

If you are unsure which component you need, contact That Pond Guy with a photograph of the vacuum’s model label and the part in its fitted position. That gives us a much clearer starting point than the description “PondoVac filter bag” alone.
