Extend the waste water outlet on a PondoVac 3, PondoVac 4 or PondoVac Classic

The Oase PondoVac Discharge Extension Kit adds a 2.5 metre hose section to the discharge arrangement of a compatible pond vacuum. Oase part 55448 includes the extension hose, a connecting sleeve and a collection bag for coarse debris. It is designed for the waste water side of the cleaner, helping you reach a more practical discharge position when the original arrangement does not suit the space around your pond.

Oase lists this kit for the PondoVac 3, PondoVac 4 and PondoVac Classic. Check the model on your machine before ordering. The extension does not add length to the suction hose that you move around inside the pond, and it does not increase the vacuum’s suction depth.

Plan the discharge route before buying

Measure along the route the hose will actually follow. A straight line measurement from the cleaner to a border can overlook a corner, a raised edge or the space needed to avoid a footpath. Include enough room to lay the hose without stretching the connections. The additional length is useful when the discharge point is nearby but awkward to reach with the original hose alone.

Look at the levels as well as the distance. An extension provides more hose, not an additional discharge pump. Follow the installation limits in your particular PondoVac instructions, including the required position of the cleaner and the outlet hose. Do not assume that adding this kit enables the cleaner to lift dirty water uphill or overcome an unsuitable discharge arrangement.

Choose a position where you can observe the discharge while working and where the collected water can be managed appropriately. Keep the route clear of areas where the hose could be crushed or become a trip hazard. If your intended layout requires several accessories or a substantial change of level, discuss the arrangement with us before ordering individual parts.

Understand the two sides of your pond vacuum

The suction hose carries material from the pond to the cleaner. The discharge hose carries the collected water away from the cleaner. They perform different jobs, so identify the end of the system you need to extend before selecting an accessory. A hose that looks broadly similar may have a different connection or be intended for a different model.

Part 55448 is the discharge extension set for the three models listed above. For a PondoVac 5, choose accessories listed specifically for that cleaner and check its discharge connection. The PondoVac 5 has a different discharge arrangement, so this kit should not be selected merely because the name PondoVac appears on both products. If you need help, send a photograph of the model label and the hose connection you want to extend.

Connecting the extension

Switch off and disconnect the vacuum before changing its hose arrangement. Check the existing hose and connection for damage or trapped debris, then use the supplied sleeve in accordance with the instructions for the equipment. Lay out the full route before starting work so you can see whether the hose will remain supported and unobstructed as you move around the pond.

At the start of the next cleaning session, inspect the connection and discharge point while the cleaner is operating. Deal with a leak, kink or restricted outlet before carrying on. Avoid pulling the hose by the joint when repositioning it. Keeping the connection accessible also makes it easier to take the arrangement apart for cleaning afterwards.

Using the collection bag

The supplied bag collects coarse debris. It should not be treated as a complete pond filtration system or as a guarantee that discharged water will be free of fine sediment. Decide where the water is going before you begin cleaning, and monitor the collection point rather than leaving it out of sight behind planting or garden furniture.

Check the bag during maintenance and empty it when necessary. Inspect its condition before the next use and keep the hose and sleeve clean enough to examine their connections. Store the components together so that the correct connecting piece is available when you next need the extra length. A simple label with the cleaner model and part number can help if you keep spares for several machines.
