Oase Aquarius Universal Classic Water Feature Pumps
Compact continuous-duty pumps for statuary, small fountains and indoor or outdoor water features
The Oase Aquarius Universal Classic range is designed for clean-water circulation where a compact, dependable pump is more useful than a large solids-handling filter pump. The four UK models cover gentle bubbling features, small ornaments, wall spouts and modest fountain displays from 440 to 1,500 litres per hour.
These pumps are valued for quiet operation, simple mechanical flow adjustment and their small footprint. The 600, 1000 and 1500 models may be installed submerged or dry in a flooded-suction arrangement; the 440 is intended for submerged operation. None is self-priming, so a dry installation must remain below the water level with the inlet continuously flooded.

Choosing the right size
For a small ornament, identify the inlet size, outlet height and the flow the ornament was designed to receive. The 440 is appropriate for the lightest duty. The 600 and 1000 offer more useful head for raised statuary, while the 1500 gives additional reserve for a larger feature or a longer circulation route.
Start by deciding what the display or circulation point must achieve. A small bubbling ornament needs much less water than a raised blade, a broad cascade or a tall fountain jet. Measure the vertical difference from the water surface to the highest outlet, then allow for friction. Narrow hose, long runs, sharp elbows, restrictive valves and undersized fittings all reduce the delivered flow.
If the result is critical, use the manufacturer’s performance curve rather than choosing only from the product name. It is usually better to keep the pipe bore generous and control a small amount of surplus flow than to make a marginal pump work at the edge of its capability. Do not use a valve on the inlet side and never allow the pump to run without water.
Installation details that make a real difference
- Use clean water and fit an appropriate pre-screen where fibres, leaves or gravel could reach the impeller.
- For dry installation, keep the inlet permanently flooded and provide valves that allow safe removal for servicing.
- Support pipework independently so its weight is not carried by the pump connections.
- Use the built-in adjustment for final balancing after the system has been filled and purged of air.
Keep the pump accessible. Even a reliable water-feature pump needs its intake inspected and cleaned, particularly in shallow features where leaves, blanketweed and mineral deposits collect quickly. Isolate the electricity before touching the pump, cable or nozzle assembly, and use an outdoor supply with appropriate RCD protection.
How this range compares
Choose this Classic range for straightforward fixed-output duty. For electronically adjustable output, higher head or a professionally controlled display, compare the Aquarius Universal Premium and Aquarius Eco Premium ranges.
Browse our wider pond fountain pumps range for alternative outputs, controllable models and compatible installation parts. If you send us the desired effect, lift, hose length and bore, we can help check the duty point before you order.
Frequently asked questions
Does maximum flow mean the amount I will receive?
No. It is a laboratory figure at minimal head. The installed flow falls as lift and pipe resistance increase.
Can I reduce the flow?
A valve may be fitted on the outlet where the instructions permit it. Never throttle the inlet. If regular adjustment is important, compare a purpose-designed controllable pump.
Can the pump stay outdoors in winter?
Follow the model instructions and prevent freezing. A pump left in service must remain sufficiently deep and ice-free; a removed pump should be cleaned and stored as the manufacturer directs.
