NT Labs Black Pond Dye darkens the water column to create a mirror-like reflective surface. By reducing sunlight penetration it can help discourage suspended algae and blanket weed, while also making fish less visible from above to predators such as herons.

The 250ml bottle treats up to 1,000 litres at the manufacturer’s 10ml per 40 litre dose. The colour gradually fades and usually needs monthly maintenance, depending on rainfall, water changes, overflow and UV exposure.

How to use it well

1. Shake the bottle thoroughly.
2. Measure 10ml per 40 litres of actual water volume.
3. Dilute the dose in a clean bucket of pond water.
4. Pour evenly around the pond with circulation running.
5. Reapply only as the colour fades and after accounting for water changes.

Always calculate the real water volume and follow the current label supplied with the product. Pond volumes should allow for shelves, stonework, filter chambers and pipework. Never increase a treatment dose simply because the water has not changed as quickly as expected.
