Important charging guidance
Sweeney specifies a trickle-type charger rated at 1 amp per hour or less for its rechargeable 6V lead-acid feeder batteries. These batteries should not be charged rapidly and should not be allowed to run completely flat. Use the supplied charger model only as instructed on its own label and documentation.
- Remove or isolate the battery in accordance with the feeder instructions.
- Charge in a dry, well-ventilated indoor location, away from the pond and weather.
- Confirm the charger is connected to the correct battery terminals and voltage before switching on.
- Do not use a higher-output automotive or rapid charger.
- Charge fully before seasonal storage, store the battery in a cool dry place and recharge before returning it to service.

Solar or mains charging?
The mains charger is the best choice when the battery needs a full controlled charge or is being prepared for storage. The optional Koi Café 6V solar panel is designed to maintain the battery during normal feeder use where it receives suitable daylight. Many pond keepers use both: mains charging for preparation and storage, then solar maintenance during the feeding season.
