Koi Café 6V Solar Panel – Green
This is the dedicated green solar charger for the Koi Café automatic fish feeder. It connects to the feeder’s rechargeable 6V system and provides a gentle maintenance charge in daylight, reducing the need to remove and recharge the battery as frequently.
Sweeney designed this 150mA solar charger specifically for its bird and Koi Café feeders. The solar cells sit inside a green enamelled metal cover that matches the Hartford-green feeder and protects the panel and cable. It is a purpose-matched accessory, not a universal 12V pond-equipment solar panel.

Why add solar charging?
An automatic feeder is most useful when its power source is dependable. A correctly positioned solar charger replenishes some of the energy used by each feed cycle and keeps the battery closer to a healthy state of charge. That makes it particularly useful for frequent summer feeding schedules, remote pond positions and customers who prefer not to carry the battery indoors for regular maintenance charging.
Solar performance depends on daylight, shade, season, panel angle and the number and duration of programmed feeds. It should therefore be treated as a battery-maintenance aid rather than a guarantee that the battery will never need checking or charging.
Installation guidance
- Fully charge and inspect the feeder battery before installing the solar panel.
- Mount the panel securely where it receives good daylight and is not shaded by planting, fencing or the feeder roof.
- Angle the panel so rain can run off and keep the solar surface clean.
- Route the cable safely, avoiding sharp edges, standing water and places where it may be pulled or damaged.
- Connect only to the compatible 6V Koi Café/Sweeney feeder system and follow the feeder instructions.

Frequently asked questions
Does the solar panel power the feeder directly?
It is intended to maintain the feeder’s rechargeable 6V battery. The battery remains part of the system and should be installed, inspected and charged in accordance with the feeder instructions.
Will it work in winter?
It can still provide charge in daylight, but shorter days and low sun reduce output. Check the battery more frequently and use the mains charger when required.
Can I use it with a different feeder?
Only use it with a confirmed compatible 6V Koi Café/Sweeney feeder. It is not the 12V solar charger used on larger directional or scatter feeders.
