Hikari Staple Koi Food

Hikari Staple Koi Food

A floating staple diet with temperature-specific feeding guidance

Hikari Staple is a floating daily diet for koi, with a guaranteed minimum of 34% protein and 3% fat. It provides a different feeding option from a dedicated colour or higher-fat growth food. The manufacturer gives separate feeding guidance for warmer water and the cooler transition into Wheat-Germ feeding.

Feeding guidance

At 18–30°C, Hikari suggests 2–4 feeds daily; at 11–18°C, no more than twice daily. Limit portions to what is eaten within five minutes. Below 11°C, the manufacturer recommends switching to its Wheat-Germ formula rather than continuing the same Staple feeding rate.

Choosing a pack and keeping it fresh

Bag Size: 2kg, 5kg, 10kg; Pellet Size: Large Pellet, Medium Pellet. Select the required option to see its price and current availability. Choose a pack you can use while fresh, and make sure the pellet size suits the smallest fish you intend to feed.

Keep the food sealed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Use a dry scoop, prevent pond water entering the pack and discard food that has become damp or spoiled. Continue checking the fish and water quality when changing food or increasing the ration.
