Hi-Flow ceramic air stones: ten-piece packs for pond aeration

These packs contain ten Hi-Flow ceramic air stones of the selected model. Choose the compact40 mm Small Ball or the taller50 mm ×100 mm Giant Can. Both use the manufacturer’s4/8 mm airline connection. They are useful when you need several matching diffusers for separate air lines, or want spare stones ready for later maintenance.

The pack quantity is important: the price is for ten stones, rather than one. The manufacturer photograph shows an individual stone so you can see its shape and connection. An air pump, airline, distribution manifold and non-return valves are separate products. An air stone is a diffuser; it needs a suitable external air supply to produce bubbles.

Compare the two pack options

Option Stone dimensions Connection Pack contents
Small Ball 40 mm ×40 mm tall 4/8 mm airline 10 Small Ball stones
Giant Can 50 mm ×100 mm tall 4/8 mm airline 10 Giant Can stones

Kockney Koi describes both Hi-Flow models as ceramic stones that provide fine aeration. The Small Ball has a rounded body; the Giant Can has a taller cylindrical body. Compare the available space where the diffuser will sit, the airline route and the air supply before choosing. The number or size of stones alone does not establish how much air your pond will receive.

Start with the air pump and the pond layout

List the air lines you intend to run and where each stone will sit. Check your air pump’s delivery information at the working depth, rather than assuming the output quoted without resistance will reach every diffuser unchanged. The depth of the water, tube length, fittings and division of the air supply all affect the installation.

A pack of ten does not mean that every pump can operate ten stones at once. You can use the pack across separate installations or keep some stones as spares. For a new aeration system, choose the air pump and distribution arrangement for the intended duty, then choose the stones and airline connections to match it. These diffusers are accessories for that system, rather than a complete aeration kit.

Choose airline that fits and stays where you need it

The manufacturer specifies a4/8 mm airline connection on both stone models. Match the airline to the actual connection and inspect the fit before placing the stone into service. Avoid forcing an unsuitable tube onto the nozzle or leaving a loose joint where air can escape. Check the connection at the air pump and any valves as well as the one at the stone.

Our standard sinking airline offers pond airline choices that help keep a submerged run tidy. Compare Evolution Aqua heavy duty sinking airline where that option suits the connection and route. Select by the stated internal size; the outside of the tube is a different measurement. Braided airline is not automatically sinking airline.

Distribute air across several lines

When one pump supplies several stones, each line needs a suitable route from the distribution point. Keep the controls accessible so you can inspect connections and adjust the supply without pulling the stones out by their airline. Label separate lines if the stones serve different areas of the pond or different tanks.

Our plastic air manifolds provide another distribution option to compare. Check their stated inlet and outlet dimensions against the pump, connecting hose and selected airline. A manifold’s number of outlets is not a statement that the pump can provide enough air for every connected diffuser. Choose the complete arrangement before filling all the outlets.

Position the stones for inspection and maintenance

Put each stone where its outlet remains clear of mud and loose debris, and route the tube so it is not trapped under sharp rocks or pulled tight against an edge. Leave enough access to inspect the connection and retrieve the diffuser. Do not use the airline as a lifting rope when the stone is stuck or caught beneath another object.

Check the air pump manufacturer’s requirements for its position and electrical installation. Where protection against water travelling back along an airline is needed, use the correct non-return arrangement and fit it in the direction marked on that valve. Adding a diffuser does not replace the pump’s own installation instructions.

Check an uneven or reduced bubble output

If one stone behaves differently from the others, inspect that line before replacing the whole system. Look for a kink, a loose connection, a shut control valve or a restriction along the tube. Compare the stone’s working position and depth with the other lines. A problem upstream of the stone can affect the bubble pattern at its surface.

Inspect stones as part of routine aeration maintenance. Surface debris and accumulated deposits can restrict the pores over time. Follow the supplied care guidance and avoid applying a chemical cleaning treatment merely because it was recommended for another diffuser material. Keep spare stones clean and stored with their packaging so the model and connection remain easy to identify.

Order the right model and quantity

Select one model from the options above. Each selected pack supplies ten stones of that model; it is not a mixed pack of Small Ball and Giant Can diffusers. The40 mm and50 mm measurements refer to the stone bodies, while the4/8 mm specification refers to the airline connection. They describe different parts of the product.

For other diffuser shapes and lengths, compare our ceramic air stone range. Check its individual model and pack information before comparing prices. Keep the selected Hi-Flow pack details with your air pump information so replacement stones can be ordered consistently without confusing a single-stone offer with a ten-piece pack.
