Burtons Winter Sinking Food
6 mm sinking pellets with wheat germ for cooler water
Burtons Winter Sinking is a 6 mm sinking koi food that the manufacturer describes as containing 35% wheat germ. Its full composition also includes toasted soybeans, wheat, fishmeal, peas and fish oil. The analysis is 37% protein and 8% fat, so it should be compared using its actual formula rather than assuming every winter food has the same nutrient levels.
Pack choice and feeding
This listing offers 20kg, 5kg packs. Use the selector to check the current price and availability for the required option. Choose a pack that you can use while the food is fresh.
Burtons recommends feeding when water is above 7°C. Offer only an amount consumed within ten minutes and remove the remainder. As with any sinking food, observe the feeding area and reduce portions when appetite slows; the Winter name does not mean dormant fish should be fed.

Keeping food fresh and monitoring the pond
Keep the pack sealed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Use a clean, dry scoop and keep pond water out of the food. Check water quality when increasing feed or changing the feeding routine, and respond to uneaten food rather than following a fixed scoop count regardless of conditions.
