Waterco MultiCyclone 16 Gen2 Pond Pre-Filter
The Waterco MultiCyclone 16 Gen2 is a compact centrifugal pre-filter that removes heavier particles before they reach the main pond filter. Water is divided between 16 hydrocyclones, creating centrifugal force that spins dirt into the clear lower chamber.
There is no filter media and no moving mechanism inside the standard unit. Heavier waste falls into the clear sediment chamber and is released through the purge valve.

Choose the correct MultiCyclone
Choose MultiCyclone 12 for compact 50mm circuits, MultiCyclone 16 Gen2 for higher flows through 63mm connections, or MultiCyclone 12 Plus when the built-in second-stage cartridge is useful.
Installation advice
Fit the unit after a suitable pump and before the main filter where the clear chamber and purge valve can be reached. Use isolation valves, maintain the full connection bore where practical and route the waste line so it cannot siphon or flood the equipment area.
A MultiCyclone is a pond pre-filter, not a complete biological system. Pair it with suitable biological filtration and a pond UV where green-water control is required.

Does it need replacement filter media?
No. The standard MultiCyclone uses no filter media.
How often is it purged?
Use the clear chamber as the guide. Frequency depends on waste load and flow rather than a fixed calendar interval.
Will it remove blanket weed?
It is designed for suspended heavier solids, not long strands of blanket weed. Prevent large debris from entering the pump.
Can it be gravity fed?
It requires pressure and is normally installed after a pump. Follow the Waterco installation arrangement for the exact model.
