Valterra Slide Valve Replacement Seals – Sold Individually

A replacement seal is a service part for a compatible Valterra slide valve. It sits inside the valve assembly around the moving gate and helps the valve close correctly. If an otherwise sound valve has a worn or damaged seal, replacing that component can be preferable to replacing the complete valve and disturbing the surrounding pipework.

Each selected option contains one seal, not a pair and not a complete valve. A valve has a seal on each side of its gate, so order two of the correct size when replacing both. Check the valve model, its nominal connection size and the shape of the old seal before ordering. These are Valterra valve parts, not universal washers for every brand of pond valve.

Available sizes and supply quantity

Nominal valve size Quantity supplied Oasis reference
1½ inch One seal AC701
2 inch One seal AC703
3 inch One seal AC705
4 inch One seal AC707

The size describes the compatible valve size, rather than the outside diameter of the loose seal. Do not select a washer solely by measuring the pipe beside the valve: a reducing sleeve may have been fitted, and nominal imperial and metric pipe sizes are different conventions. Identify the valve body itself and compare the existing seal profile.

When a replacement seal may help

Slide valves are often used to isolate filter lines or control waste discharge during cleaning. Over time, debris, wear or damage can prevent a seal from seating correctly. A valve that passes water when closed needs investigation; replacing a seal can address seal damage, but it will not correct a cracked body, a damaged gate or pipework that is pulling the assembly out of alignment.

Before deciding which parts to replace, check where the water is actually escaping. Leakage through the shut valve and leakage around an outside pipe joint have different causes. Inspect the accessible components and follow the valve’s service instructions. A piece of debris trapped at the gate may also affect closing, so avoid forcing the handle in an attempt to overcome an obstruction.

Plan isolation before opening the valve

Switch off the relevant pump and arrange secure isolation or drainage before dismantling a valve. A valve below the pond’s water level can release a substantial amount of water when opened. Do not rely on the valve you are taking apart to isolate itself. Consider the pond, filter chambers and connecting pipes together so that water cannot continue to feed the work area.

Make sure there is enough access to remove the fasteners and separate the serviceable valve assembly without straining the pipework. Support the adjoining pipes. Have the correct replacement parts ready before beginning, particularly where filtration will be stopped during the repair. Keep removed fasteners and components together and note their original arrangement.

Check the valve and fit the correct parts

With the system safely isolated, follow the instructions for the specific valve when opening the body. Inspect the gate, seal seats and surrounding surfaces for grit, damage or distortion. Clean them carefully without scratching the sealing surfaces. A new seal fitted over trapped debris may still leak, while damaged components may require more than a seal replacement.

Compare the new seal with the removed one before assembly. Confirm its size, profile and orientation. Fit it evenly into its intended seat without stretching or trapping it. Use only a lubricant permitted by the valve manufacturer; do not apply an arbitrary grease, adhesive or solvent to the seal. This listing does not supply a universal tightening torque or lubrication specification for all valve generations.

Reassemble the valve in accordance with its instructions and check that the gate moves as intended. Do not use excessive force to overcome stiffness introduced during assembly. If the seal has shifted or the body is unevenly assembled, correct the cause before refilling the system. Support and alignment are especially important where rigid pipework is attached on both sides.

Refill and test before leaving the system

Restore water gradually and inspect the assembly before returning the pump to normal operation. Check the outside joints for leakage and test the valve’s intended shut-off function. Observe it again with the system running under its normal conditions. A dry exterior does not by itself establish that the closed gate is sealing internally.

Keep the valve accessible for future inspection and exercise it as recommended for the installation. Avoid allowing accumulated debris to become a reason to force the gate. If the valve body or moving parts are damaged, compare the cost and practicality of a complete replacement instead of repeatedly changing seals.

Related Valterra valves and pipework

Our Valterra slide valve range includes complete valves in several sizes. Use that range if you need the whole assembly, and check the connection standard before replacing an existing valve. A seal is a maintenance component; it does not convert the valve from one pipe size or connection type to another.

Where an installation uses a sleeve between imperial pressure fittings and waste pipe, compare our pressure-to-waste reducing bushes. For planning access to nearby equipment, our pressure pipe unions and imperial pressure pipe can help you identify compatible plumbing components. These are separate installation products and are not included with the seal.
