NT Labs Medikoi Junior Sturgeon Food 500g
Small 2mm sinking pellets for feeding young sturgeon and sterlet
NT Labs Medikoi Junior Sturgeon is the small-pellet option in the Medikoi Sturgeon range. Supplied in a 500g pack, it uses 2mm sinking pellets for fish that need a smaller mouthful than the standard 4.5mm or jumbo 8mm foods. Choose it by the size of pellet your fish can comfortably take, as well as their feeding behaviour.
The Junior recipe has its own nutritional analysis: 45% crude protein and 18% crude oil and fat. These figures apply specifically to Junior. If you are comparing different Medikoi packs, check both the pellet size and the recipe on the label so you select the right food for the fish you are keeping.

Choosing a pellet your fish can take
Watch your sturgeon during feeding rather than judging suitability from the word Junior alone. The food should reach them, and they should be able to take it comfortably. A pellet that disappears among larger fish before the sturgeon reaches it is not providing a useful meal for the fish you intended to feed.
For the larger pellet formats, compare our NT Labs Medikoi Sturgeon Food with 4.5mm pellets and Medikoi Sturgeon Jumbo Food with 8mm pellets. These are separate choices, with different pack options. Moving to a larger pellet should be based on your fish’s ability to feed comfortably.
Feeding sturgeon in a mixed pond
In a pond shared with koi or other fish, make sure the sturgeon receives its own food. NT Labs recommends feeding the other pond fish first to occupy them before introducing the sinking sturgeon pellets. Choose a feeding position where you can observe what happens as the food enters the water.
Start with a manageable amount and watch the response before adding more. Avoid scattering a large quantity across the pond where it becomes difficult to tell whether it has been eaten. A consistent feeding area can make it easier to compare appetite from one session to the next.
If other fish repeatedly take the food first, review how and where you feed. Simply adding more can leave you uncertain about the amount reaching the sturgeon and the amount remaining uneaten. Remove accessible leftovers and keep your normal water-quality checks up to date.
Adjusting feeding through the seasons
NT Labs’ feeding guidance follows the activity and appetite of the fish through the year. Offer food gradually and reassess consumption as conditions change. During cooler weather, continue to observe your sturgeon directly rather than using the feeding response of the koi as your only guide.
A routine that worked during a warmer week may need adjustment after a change in conditions. Keep a simple record of how much you offer if you are finding it difficult to judge appetite. This helps you identify a change without relying on the size of a scoop or a handful from memory.
Keeping the food in good condition
Reseal the original pack after feeding and keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use a clean, dry scoop and avoid handling the remaining food with wet hands. Retaining the original pack also keeps the product identity, batch details and best-before information together.
Choose a pack size that fits your feeding routine and available storage. A 500g pack can be convenient when you need the smaller 2mm food without buying a large quantity. Check the pellets before use and keep the feeding container protected from moisture between visits to the pond.
Build a suitable feeding routine
Good feeding involves the right pellet, access to the food and careful observation of the fish. Review these together when choosing or changing a feed. Browse our NT Labs Medikoi food range for the other fish sharing your pond, while keeping a suitable sinking feed available for your sturgeon and sterlet.
