The Oase LunAqua 3 Set 1 is a single-light halogen set for highlighting a pond, fountain or garden feature. It is the original 20W LunAqua 3 model, Oase reference 56903. Choose it when you want this particular halogen system, or when matching the lighting already used around your pond. The spotlight can be positioned above or below water within the operating limits in its manual.

One well-positioned light can pick out a waterfall, the surface movement around a fountain or a feature beside the pond. Decide what you want to illuminate and where you normally view it from before choosing the mounting position. A light aimed across the feature usually gives a more useful view than one pointing straight towards a seating area or window.

The lamp’s 20W rating and the transformer’s 20VA rating describe different parts of the system. Keep the matching transformer and light together, and follow the supplied instructions for their connection and placement. The low-voltage spotlight is not intended to be connected directly to a mains socket.

Halogen and LED LunAqua lights are different products

The LunAqua name appears on several Oase lighting families. This Set 1 is the halogen model 56903; it is not the LunAqua 3 LED Set 1, LunAqua Classic LED or LunAqua Connect. Check the full name and reference when comparing a set or ordering parts. A similar-looking lamp housing does not establish that a transformer, cable or bulb is interchangeable.

For a new LED installation, compare the Oase LunAqua Connect S Set 3 White and LunAqua Connect M Set 3 White. These are alternative complete systems, rather than accessories for this halogen set. Keep each system’s own components together.

Plan the lighting position before fitting

Start by looking at the pond from the places where you will enjoy it after dark. Choose the feature you want to emphasise, then work backwards to a suitable light position and cable route. Keep access to the light practical: you may need to lift or reposition it for cleaning, rather than burying it beneath fixed stonework.

Test the effect in the evening before making the arrangement permanent. A small change in position can alter reflections on moving water or the shadow cast by a rock. Aim the beam away from normal viewing positions and neighbouring windows. Use the mounting arrangement described in the manual and make sure the light cannot fall, tilt or pull on its lead.

Underwater use and seasonal limits

Underwater lighting can illuminate the water from within, while an above-water position can highlight the pond edge or a fountain feature. Whichever position you choose, follow the separate requirements for the spotlight, transformer and connections. The spotlight’s underwater suitability does not mean that the mains power equipment can also be submerged.

The manual specifies a minimum water temperature of +4°C for submerged operation. Take that into account if the pond is left unheated through winter. Keep the instructions available when planning seasonal maintenance, and follow their storage guidance whenever the installation will be outside the permitted operating conditions.

Allow for the cable route and future maintenance

Measure the actual route around the pond edge, planting and any waterfall rather than only the straight-line distance. Leave enough reach to access the light without stretching the cable, and keep the route clear of sharp edges and places where gardening tools could damage it. Do not use the lead as a carrying handle or pull the lamp into position by its cable.

Use the supplied system as instructed. Do not extend a lead by cutting or splicing it, or assume that a connector from another LunAqua family will fit. If an existing cable, housing or connection is damaged, check the exact replacement reference before putting the installation back into use.

Running costs and everyday care

As a comparison, a 20W lamp running for six hours uses 0.12kWh at the lamp: 20 ÷ 1,000 × 6. This is a calculation from the lamp rating, not a measured whole-set energy figure; transformer consumption can add to the total. Multiply your actual measured consumption by your electricity tariff to estimate the running cost.

Keep the front of the light clear so that deposited dirt does not obscure the effect. Isolate the electrical supply before maintenance and allow a halogen lamp to cool before handling it. Follow the manual for opening and reassembling the light, and check the condition of seals and mating surfaces whenever it is serviced. Match replacement bulbs and seals to this halogen generation.

Compare a wider lighting installation

If you want several points of light around a larger pond, compare a complete multi-light system rather than assuming this Set 1 can be expanded with unrelated spotlights.
