Kockney Koi Saddle Clips for Solvent-Weld Pond Pipe
These Kockney Koi saddle clips support compatible rigid solvent-weld pipe around a pond, filter bay or water feature. Choose the 1½ inch or 2 inch option to match the Kockney Koi solvent-weld pipe you are using. The saddle cradles the pipe and has fixing holes so it can be secured to a suitable surface. Screws are not included.
Pipe supports are easy to overlook when planning a filtration system. A run that looks straight when empty can move once it carries water, and unsupported equipment connections can be pulled out of alignment. Planning the supports alongside the pipe and fittings helps create a tidier installation that is easier to inspect and maintain.
Choose your size
| Option | Manufacturer part | Barcode | Intended pipe family |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1½ inch | 001404 | 5031589001404 | Kockney Koi 1½ inch solvent-weld pipe |
| 2 inch | 001466 | 5031589001466 | Kockney Koi 2 inch solvent-weld pipe |
Each option is supplied as one pipe clip. Pipe, screws and wall fixings are selected separately. The size refers to the manufacturer’s nominal pipe system; it should not be treated as an exact measurement across the outside of the pipe. Check the pipe standard as well as its size before ordering.
Solvent-weld waste pipe and pressure pipe are different
These clips belong to Kockney Koi’s solvent-weld pipe range. They are not automatically interchangeable with clips for imperial pressure pipe, even when both products are described as 1½ inch or 2 inch. A clip needs to fit the actual outside of the pipe, rather than simply sharing a similar name.
For the pipe itself, see our black waste pipe and select the matching system. If your installation uses imperial pressure pipe, compare our separate pressure pipe clips. Mixing the two systems without checking the dimensions can leave a loose support or a clip that will not seat around the pipe.
Plan the route before fixing the clips
Lay out the route between the pump, filter, valves and return before drilling any fixing holes. Allow space to reach valve handles, remove union nuts and service equipment. A pipe may fit neatly against a wall but still obstruct access to a filter lid or pump basket once the rest of the equipment is installed.
Mark the intended route and check its alignment from more than one direction. Do not use the clips to pull a badly aligned pipe into position. The pipe should follow its planned route naturally, without forcing a bend or loading the socket of a connected pump, UV clarifier or filter.
Select suitable fixings and support positions
The saddle has fixing holes, but the screws and anchors need to suit the surface you are fixing into. Sound masonry, timber and other mounting surfaces require different fixings. Check the substrate before drilling, including the position of hidden cables, pipework and any pond liner behind or beneath it.
Support requirements depend on the pipe, its orientation, the span and the weight it carries. Follow the relevant pipe and equipment installation guidance when deciding the spacing. Heavy valves, unions and equipment may need separate support; a small saddle clip should not be assumed to carry the weight of an entire assembly.
Fitting the saddle clip
Position the clip on the intended mounting surface and mark its fixing holes. Use suitable screws and anchors, keeping the saddle aligned with the pipe run. Check that the pipe sits correctly in the clip without being crushed, distorted or held under sideways strain. Do not force an incorrect size to fit.
The clip is a mechanical support. It does not make a watertight joint and does not replace the solvent-weld connection between pipe and fittings. Make those joints separately, using cement suitable for the pipe materials and following the adhesive maker’s preparation and curing instructions before introducing water.
Keep maintenance connections accessible
A permanent pipe route can still include removable service connections where appropriate. Our black waste split connectors allow compatible sections to be disconnected for maintenance. Leave clearance around the union nut and arrange the supports so that loosening it does not leave a heavy pipe section hanging from the next fitting.
Where a route needs to be isolated, compare the correctly sized Kockney Koi black waste ball valves. A clip supports the pipe; a valve controls the water. Selecting each component for its own job helps make the finished system simpler to use.
Checks when the system is running
After completing the pipework and allowing any adhesive to cure, introduce water and inspect the route. Check that supports remain secure, joints stay aligned and no equipment connection is being pulled sideways. Look for excessive movement or vibration and correct the cause instead of simply tightening a plastic clip harder.
Include the supports in routine filter-bay checks. Replace a damaged clip and investigate loose fixings, especially after equipment has been moved or a pipe section removed for servicing. Keeping the route visible and accessible makes these small checks much easier and helps you spot a developing problem before it becomes a difficult repair.
