Choosing the correct Victoria pump

The Victoria Plus Silent VS family contains both 1HP and 2HP versions. This is the 2HP model, reference 67548; reference 67547 identifies the smaller pump. When replacing existing equipment, compare the manufacturer number, connection positions and operating curve as well as the name on the housing. The VS designation identifies variable-speed control and should not be confused with a fixed-speed Victoria pump.

Adjusting speed to the work required

Variable speed allows the circulation setting to change with the system’s needs. The manufacturer’s brochure describes three adjustable filtration-speed presets and a weekly timer. Routine circulation can be scheduled at an appropriate lower speed, with higher-speed periods available where the installed equipment requires them. The useful setting depends on the complete system, including pipe resistance and the minimum flow required by connected equipment.

Lower speed reduces both delivery and electrical demand; it does not maintain the same flow with less input. A sensible operating programme therefore considers speed and running time together. Check the system’s actual circulation after commissioning instead of simply selecting the lowest available setting. The HMI control panel provides a local interface for programming and monitoring the pump.

AstralPool’s technical brochure gives the following operating examples for the 2HP model. These are matched duty points, with flow, head and power belonging together. They are more informative than quoting an isolated flow figure without the corresponding operating conditions.

The manufacturer’s curve also shows Turbo operation. Use the complete curve when sizing the installation, allowing for the highest setting that may be selected. The 2HP description does not mean the pump draws a constant amount of electricity at every speed. Avoid calculating running costs from the model label alone.

Dimensions and installation planning

The overall drawing dimensions are 618mm long, 254mm wide and 359mm high. Leave service space around that envelope, particularly above the strainer lid and around the motor and control panel. The dimensional drawing identifies a 2-inch Gas internal port thread and an ACME D.75 external connection. Match the actual unions and adjoining pipework before fitting; nominal pipe sizes and thread descriptions are not interchangeable measurements.

The installation manual calls for horizontal mounting on a secured support, dry ventilation and protection from flooding. The pump is not installed underwater. An accessible equipment position makes it easier to inspect the basket, seals and connections and to service the motor without disturbing unrelated equipment. Use suitable filtration equipment with an operating pressure and flow range appropriate to the complete system.

Controls and system integration

The integrated HMI can also be wall mounted for easier access. The pump is compatible with Fluidra Connect and includes digital inputs and outputs for coordinated operation with other equipment. Compatibility does not mean a complete remote-control installation is supplied in this pump listing. Priming, basket care and maintenance

Self-priming does not mean the pump can be started empty. The manual requires water in the pre-filter before starting. Keep the basket fitted, clean it regularly and inspect the lid seal whenever opened. Debris in the basket or air entering a connection can affect delivery. Isolate the equipment and prevent automatic restarting before maintenance.

Plan maintenance access from the beginning. The manual explains basket care, seal inspection, draining for prolonged shutdown and fault checks.
