Submersible UV Mounting Connectors and Accessories
Watertight tank connectors for installing compatible amalgam UV lamps safely inside filter chambers
This is a small category with an important job. A submersible UV mounting connector supports and seals a compatible quartz-and-lamp assembly through the wall of a filter chamber. It must hold the correct diameter securely, keep the chamber watertight and leave the electrical end outside the wet area.
The current range includes the Aqua Source 32mm tank connector and a connector for compatible amalgam submersible UVC mounting. They are not universal plumbing fittings. Compatibility must be checked against the lamp, quartz sleeve, chamber wall and installation drawing.
Submersible UV-C is powerful and should operate only inside a fully enclosed, UV-resistant chamber. Never install it where people, fish or exposed plastic components can see the active lamp.

Check the Complete Assembly Before Drilling
Confirm the connector thread and seal diameter, quartz sleeve diameter, required hole size, maximum wall thickness and the space needed to withdraw the lamp. Decide which side receives the gasket according to the supplied drawing; do not copy the orientation of an unrelated bulkhead.
The mounting point needs a flat, clean and structurally sound surface. A rib, curve or moulding line can prevent the gasket from sealing evenly.
Install Without Distorting the Seal
Drill the exact hole with the chamber empty and deburr both faces. Remove swarf, fit the specified gasket and tighten evenly. Excess force can distort the seal or crack a plastic wall; sealant is not a substitute for the correct fitting and surface.
Support cables so their weight does not pull on the connector. Leave enough clearance outside the chamber for safe lamp removal and enough clearance inside to keep the quartz away from moving media, screens and sharp components.
Commission the Chamber Safely
Fill and leak-test the fitting while electrical power remains isolated. Confirm that the quartz is fully protected, the chamber lid is closed and any safety interlock works before the UV is energised.
During maintenance, isolate the UV at its supply before opening the lid or loosening the connector. UV-C can damage eyes and skin without an immediate warning sensation.
Our advice: send us the filter make, wall thickness, UV lamp and quartz dimensions before drilling. The time to find a mismatch is on the bench, not after a hole has been cut in an expensive filter.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a submersible UV tank connector?
It is the bulkhead-style fitting that supports and seals a compatible lamp and quartz assembly through a chamber wall.
Is the 32mm description the hole size?
Do not assume so. Check the product drawing for the actual cut-out, thread and seal dimensions.
Are these connectors universal?
No. Match the exact lamp, quartz, fitting diameter and chamber design.
Which side should the gasket go?
Follow the fitting drawing. Gasket position varies with design and should not be guessed.
Can it be fitted through a curved wall?
A flat sealing face is normally required. A curved or ribbed surface may not seal safely.
Should I use silicone sealant?
Only if the manufacturer specifies it. The correct connector and gasket should provide the designed seal.
How tight should the nut be?
Tighten evenly to the product instruction; overtightening can distort the gasket or chamber.
Can the electrical end be submerged?
No unless the exact complete product explicitly says so. Keep electrical connections in the stated dry location.
Can the lamp be visible while operating?
No. UV-C must be fully enclosed and interlocked or isolated before access.
How do I leak-test it?
Fill the chamber with the UV power isolated and inspect the fitting before energising the system.
Does the quartz need support at the far end?
Use the lamp manufacturer’s mounting instructions; long assemblies may require defined support and clearance.
Can moving filter media strike the quartz?
It must not. Fit guards or locate the assembly as the filter design requires.
Can I drill the chamber while it contains media?
Empty and protect the chamber so swarf cannot enter pumps, valves or biological media.
What measurements do you need to check compatibility?
Lamp and quartz model, diameter and length, connector details, chamber material and wall thickness.
Can you help before I cut the hole?
Yes. Send photographs, labels and measurements and we will check the proposed parts first.
