Replacement Pond UV Bulbs

Model-matched UV-C lamps for Oase, TMC, Evolution Aqua, BIO-UV, Filtreau, AquaForte and more

A UV bulb is not safely identified by wattage alone. Two lamps can both say 55W yet use a different tube length, diameter, end cap, pin layout, ballast or electrical characteristic. This category brings together replacement lamps for many of the pond UV systems we sell, but the unit make and full model must come first.

We stock conventional T8 and PL-style pond lamps, T5 submersible replacements and high-output amalgam lamps. Those technologies are not interchangeable. If the old label is unreadable, send us photographs of the lamp, connector, pins, overall length and the UV unit itself.

UV-C output falls gradually with running time. A lamp can still glow blue and no longer produce enough useful UV-C to control green water, which is why a dated maintenance record is so helpful.

Match Five Things Before Ordering

  1. UV unit make and full model.
  2. Lamp wattage and technology.
  3. Overall lamp length and tube diameter.
  4. Pin base, end cap or waterproof connector.
  5. Compatible ballast/controller and quartz sleeve.

Our range covers Evolution Aqua EazyPod 18W, AquaForte 40W amalgam, AquaForte 80W amalgam and many variable product families for Oase, TMC, BIO-UV, Burtons, Yamitsu and evoUV.

Change the Lamp Without Damaging the Sleeve

Isolate electrical power and stop the pump before opening the UV. Let the lamp cool, keep fingers off the glass and support the quartz sleeve. Inspect O-rings and clean mineral deposits using the approved method.

Do not force a lamp into a resistant socket. Misaligned pins or an incorrect length can damage the holder and quartz.

When a New Bulb Does Not Solve Green Water

Check that the lamp is operating, the quartz is clean and the flow is within the UV rating. Also check pump turnover and mechanical filtration, because killed or clumped algae must be captured.

Need help identifying a bulb? Send us the complete UV model label and clear photographs before removing the old lamp if possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy a replacement bulb from wattage alone?

No. Match make, full model, lamp technology, dimensions, base and ballast.

Why does my old lamp still glow but no longer clear the pond?

Visible light can remain after useful UV-C output has fallen below an effective level.

Are T5, T8 and PL lamps interchangeable?

No. They use different formats and electrical arrangements.

Is an amalgam lamp the same as a normal UV-C tube?

No. It requires the correct controller, connector and installation.

How do I measure a lamp?

Record the exact overall and glass lengths as requested for the product, but use the unit model as the primary identifier.

Should I replace the quartz sleeve at the same time?

Only if it is cracked, badly etched or otherwise unserviceable. Clean and inspect it whenever changing the lamp.

Should I replace O-rings?

Replace damaged, flattened or manufacturer-specified service seals and lubricate only with an approved product.

Can I touch the new lamp glass?

Avoid touching it. Clean any marks according to the lamp instructions before fitting.

When should a pond UV bulb be changed?

Follow the exact manufacturer running-hour or seasonal interval, even if the lamp still lights.

Can I test a UV lamp by looking at it?

No. Never expose eyes or skin to UV-C. Use the unit’s safe indicator or approved diagnosis.

Why does a new lamp fail to light?

Possible causes include wrong lamp, poor seating, faulty ballast, damaged connector, safety switch or electrical fault.

Can one brand’s lamp fit another brand’s unit?

Only when explicitly cross-referenced as compatible. Similar appearance is not enough.

Do you stock lamps for old UV models?

Many variable listings cover older units. Send the complete label and lamp details so we can check.

What photographs should I send?

The UV model label, old lamp printing, both ends/connectors and the lamp beside a ruler.

Will a new bulb fix blanket weed?

No. UV-C is principally used for suspended green-water algae, not attached blanket weed.

Why is flow relevant to a replacement lamp?

A correct lamp still needs adequate exposure time; excessive flow can reduce the delivered UV dose.
